That's how things escalate. Maybe not for 8 year olds but definitely for the older kids.

It hasn't been that long since I coached A ball and they all seemed to handle things just fine. What has changed in just a few short years?

April 2, 200719 yr Ridiculous!! Why so sensitive today? It's more of what kids say than it is being sensitive. "We want a pitcher not a glass of water" isn't something that kids fret about. Things have gotten much more personal. Hence the rule... Believe me, it's much needed.

April 2, 200719 yr I have been correctly filled in on this subject now, I had no idea things have esculated to what they are now. I stand corrected, it seems that this rule is in the best interest of the kids and the sport.

April 2, 200719 yr Why? Are kids today so weak that chatter actually gets to them? Lord help them when they're adults. Some are. Some of the little fellas and girls are very sensitive to negative comments and taunts. I have students tell me all the time how negatively they were affected by a simple comment or remark made to them by a teacher in grade school. Similarly, there is no doubt that a comment like, "Swing batter swing. Hey batter you swing like a sissy.Who taught you to swing like that batter, your mommy?" Many little fellas would probably not want to play ball anymore after such insensitive taunts. There is absolutely no need for it.
April 2, 200719 yr It is probably a little blown out of proportion to draw a frame of reference this is about stopping 7 and 8 year olds from having a good time. It is about the smart mouth and no control parents of 14 and 15 year old.

I have heard some sad story's, and they can happen in the any city.
