They are talking about Donovan going to the heat now. Anybody think Donovan is using all of this for leverage? I sure do.

 

Absolutely. He will either come to UK or get a lot more money from UF. The only 2 scenarios I see playing out regarding Billy.

Why wouldn't he? At worst he's got a championship and a final four in two years, at best he's got the first back to back titles since the early 90's. He's the top in his profession at the moment. Why shouldn't he be paid for it?

I was thinking about that when the article mentioned Donovan's AGENT talked to UK.

 

Just about everyone on here can agree Tubby was a quality character, but how shady on his part to negotiate a deal with another school. If the offer came along he bolts, if not, he sticks around UK and collects another fat paycheck.

 

In any case, back to Donovan having NO IDEA what his agent was doing talking to UK. lol

Shady? Lets get real here. This is a business, and it works the same way as anywhere else a person may be employed. I have never known any sane person to quit a job without already having another job to go to when he quits. Please dont deny that any of you guys have not made the same preparations when you all have switched jobs. Some of you guys need to get out of this fantasy world your living in and see how the real world revolves and what makes it revolve. These guys dont actually live in this imagined world of having undying loyalty to the good old Big Blue , the Scarlet /Gray, The Crimson Tide, or whomever it may be. Loyalty only applies to that of a color known as the "Big Green" and loyalty only comes to whomever is writing the checks at the time, and when something bigger or better comes along, it's always that dream job I've wanted all my life.These guys work in what is nothing more than a high finance entertainment business. It's nothing more, nothing less.

I remember Lute Olson to Kentucky before they named some guy named Sutton as Joe Hall's replacement.

I also remember Lute Olsen doing the same thing again before some guy named Pitino was named Eddie Sutton's replacement.

Well this part of the article sounds familiar and if he couldn't stand the heat in Florida, he is going to struggle with it in Kentucky........

 

Have we forgotten that it was barely more than a year ago when so many Gator fans were saying that Billy's time was up at Florida? Couldn't get out of the second round of the NCAA Tournament came the constant criticism.

 

And have we forgotten how angry Billy was with Florida's fan base when the sniping came after he lost to Manhattan in the first round of the NCAA Tournament back in 2003? He retreated to his beach home after that season. Later, Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley openly talked about how he thought he'd lost Billy, that surely he was going to leave.

Sometime playing with fire will get you burned. In the short term he is fine. In the big picture he may end up doing more damage than good.

 

 

I'm not saying he shouldn't get all the money he can. But I'm not sure ALL parties are going about this the right way.

I am sure that anyone that hates UK is hoping and praying that this deal falls through. Kentucky would be right back in the mix for a title in one to two years.

Well Katz just said Donovan would not go to UK. I have more confidence than ever that Donovan may come.

Report: UK Ready To Name Donovan

According to Darrell Bird of CatsPause.com, UK is poised to name Billy Donovan its new basketball coach after Florida's final game in the NCAA Tournament.

 

According to CatsPause.com, the reported package is a seven year deal worth $3.5 million per year. The report further states there is a $3.5 million loyalty bonus if Donovan completes all seven years.

 

The deal reportedly was made last Thursday and Friday during a meeting with Donovan's agent here in Lexington.

 

Bird writes on CatsPause.com, "Numerous attempts to verify a rumor through independent sources have all reached the same conclusion. Kentucky is poised to name Billy Donovan its new basketball coach shortly after Florida's final game in the NCAA tournament."

 

How can he say he didnt expect this for widespread publication...he knows all people in KY and a lot of people in Gainesville are sitting on pins and needles about this!

I won't believe anything or any more rumors unitil it comes straight from horses mouth.
