I'm not a UK fan or even a fan of basketball all that much but I honestly felt for Tubby Smith and all the grief he had to take for being coach. It would have been easy to slip up and blast some of these "fans" but through it all he held himself above such petty stuff. That, to me, is the epitome of character.

 

If more coaches were like Tubby and taught morals and values like Tubby then we wouldn't have Sportscenter running stories about all the problems athletes get into.

 

Tubby - thank you for being a good man and a good leader. I apologize on behalf of the people who made your life miserable and wish you nothing but luck at Minnesota. Hopefully you can get them to the Final Four and make UK "fans" realize how they messed up by not embracing you.

I too hate to see it end this way. Tubby is a great coach and a great man. He was done in by this group of egotistical Junior's that thought they were better than any other system if it was not the NBA. I wish him much success at Minn.

I am also glad for him that he is getting out of all this negative scrutiny and will be able to coach basketball for those who appreciate him and his abilities.

I am also he glad he won't be here next year to endure the problems that will arise from a team with no Morris, Patterson, or Lucas. Tubby I am sure had a good idea that Morris was gone and that he was losing out on PP. He left at the right time I am afraid.

Good luck to Tubby. I am glad he will now be at a place where being good/decent and recruiting good/decent recruits will work for him. It's a shame how it went down at UK but Tubby was just at the wrong place. Best of luck at UM.

I think my name says it all!!! I wish Tubby all the best in the Big-10 where he will be successful. The Big-10 coaches are hating this move of Tubby to the Gophers, much tougher game now.

 

I thank you for everything you did for Wildcat Nation on and off the floor. I apologize for some of the things you and your family and assistants had to endure while at UK.

Thanks Tubby for showing me that UK basketball really isn't that important. You gave me several hours of my life back, hours I used to spend watching UK play.

I am also embarrassed to be called a UK Basketball Fan. I want to wish Tubby well he has been nothing but a class act which can't be said for some UK Fans.Minnesota is the luckiest college in the nation.

Talk about talking out of both sides of your mouth. In one post your pledging yourself to U of L and the next you call yourself a real UK fan.

This is my first post on the entire Tubby situation, frankly because I am still in slight shock to the news. From day one I have thought Tubby carried himself with so much class and dignity, and represented the university greatly as well. I want to thank him for all of the good times, and I want to apologize to him and Donna for all of the crap they had to deal with through his 10 years at UK. I am embarrassed to be a UK fan today, and I hope all of the TB's know that our fanbase is now the laughingstock of college basketball. Why would a coach want to come here? Sorry, got a little off subject, but wanted to wish Tubby and Donna the best of luck in Minnesota, and I hope you have an extremely successful career with the Golden Gophers. TUBBY....TUBBY....TUBBY!

We all know he can't coach at UK. He should have shown you that but jumping ship. Need any further examples? He is now in a place where his average/good recruits will work for him.
