Yet most college basketball experts and basketball coaches around the nation would completely disagree with on that statement...

They've started changing their tune this year.

Everyone gets off years, but 2 in a row with no big changes coming for next year doesn't instill confidence.

Dickie V doesn't see it that way. He was nearly in tears on ESPN.

So are you telling me that it is okay for the new coach to lose 14 games next season??? How many years are you giving the new coach??? 2???

It really will all depend on if the new coach can keep the guys on the team. We have to assume that if there was any chance Morris might come back is gone now. And if a couple of the freshman from this year decide to leave as well, then we are in big trouble no matter what coach we bring in...

I agree that next year could be tough. If we bring in a good recruiter (and Barnhart will be crucified if he doesn't) then the following years will be good.

We have 2 unfilled scholarships currently, plus one for Morris, plus anyone that transfers. That would give the new coach lots of room to load up on talent.

We're also forgetting a new coach may bring players he recruited at his old school.

How many did Slick Rick lose in his 1st season?

Because he was handed a team coming off 12 and 13 loss seasons, not back to back title game appearances. :thumb:

A new coach gets 4 years unless they REALLY screw something up before then.

You seem to forget that this recruting season is now probably shot...(not to mention we probably lose Morris and a current freshman or two) So you expect a great turn around with some freshman and Jared Carter and that senior class??????????

Load what talent. They are all gone now, its way to late to be playing that game. Next year maybe.

Sorry.. thats what I meant. Yeah, this year could be a big loss.

That is the problem, to be at the top, you can not afford 1 bad recruiting class.

And even then it will be tough to get top notch reqruits for next year. Most of them are already being worked on and narrowing it down to a few.

And everyone keeps harping on how its the coach and not the school. So the work the new coach has put in on younger guys would simply follow him to UK.

You think that kids Gillespie has interested in A&M wouldn't be interested in playing for him at UK?

Tubby didn't have the respect of his players, fans, or administration.

Whether or not this is deserving is de minimus. He had lost credibility as the head basketball coach of UK.

Would be a whole lot to ask of those currently at school to sit out a season, for those that have not yet comitted maybe, probably not though.

I'm talking future recruits. We could get lucky and snag some transfers too. There will more than likely be plenty of room.
