Yep, you guessed it! Christian Laettner will not be the new coach at UK.

I go to school at UK, and I'm not joking with you when I say that I saw Kyle Macy on campus today eating lunch.

He is always around Lexington though. I ate beside him at University Club last fall at a golf tournament and have seen him on campus in years past. I dont think its anything to get worked up about. I dont look for him to get back into coaching either.

I will lose all faith in UK basketball if Macy is even hired to be the water boy.....he is a very classy guy in person as I have met him as a student at Morehead State, but he might possibly be one of the worst coaches I have ever seen. I watched him his final three seasons at MSU and my friends and I all agreed that he might have had the least amount of passion that we had ever seen as a coach. He couldn't recruit, couldn't win games in the OVC, and seemed like he was just doing it for a paycheck. I see no reason for UK to hire him but solely to teach these guys how to shoot a jump shot (he can still stroke by the way).

I agree, too many fans apparently do not understand what most people around the state and around the country do...Kentucky basketball is held to a higher standard than most. They didn't get to be the all-time winningest program, win 7 national championships, etc, etc being satisfied with anything less than the best. All this bull I hear about parity in college basketball is just that...BULL! UNC, Duke, Kansas and the ilk will not tolerate not being in the national title picture from the beginning of the season, going most of the season without being ranked, multiple poor tournament performances, etc, etc. UK is supposed to be better than that and its fans demand that the program be better than that.

 

If Tubby's teams were routinely mentioned when talking about the national championship, Final Four, etc, if UK was consistently ranked in the top 10 (if not the top 5), and if the team consistently gave a good showing in the tourney, fans wouldn't be up in arms calling for his head. Unfortunately, that has not been the case and Kentucky has lost its luster on the national stage and the program shows NO signs of returning to its rightful place in the near future.

The grapevine has it, from a couple of sources, that this time next year, a former UK player and current coach will be sitting in Tubby's coaching chair.

 

 

 

 

If this happens, you can say (as always) you heard it on BGP first.

Tubby usually doesn't stay seated, so I could almost believe this, however if he loses Morriss, it gains more credibility that Tubby isn't on the sidelines either...

That is not what he said, he said the coach would be sittin in Tubbys chair, which means would be the head coach...

 

Wrong he said former player, and current coach, sure it's been mentioned, think of me as a reminder....

So my point is what makes some of you so sure that either one of them is going to sign with UK?

I'm not sure they will. The point is noone really knows yet.

I know I for one don't why a few people have said that they definitely dont want Ford here. Because he is a coach on the rise and has rebuilt every program he has been at so far. He just has not been at one place long enough to build a big reputation, because after he rebuilds a team he gets a chance to move up, and then has to start the rebuilding process over. He is a very good coach, and will get picked up by a big university here in the next few years and I just dont get why you all wouldn't want him here. He is a guy who has played here and knows what Kentucky basketball means, he is also a guy who would bring in shooters which we all want, and also runs a style that we all love. Not to mention he is young and would be a coach we could keep for a long time! So I really dont see the reason why we wouldn't want him IF Tubby was to leave...

 

My reasons for not wanting him have nothing to do with his coaching abilities.
