How do we know Jasper can't shoot?

He doesn't shoot. He can drive some, but he never looks to shoot.

I remember the game against UCLA, he drove the ball to the basket and shot it.

After a while he would never shoot it.

Bradley was yanked from the point because he was a turnover machine through the first quarter of the year, plus he dribbled too dang much.

 

Ok well at the end of the year when he did shoot, he missed badly...I dont know why people keep defeding keeping Jasper at the point. The fact is, as the year went on he got worst and lost all confidence. He did absolutely nothing at all for us on offense. We are a half court type team, and in the half court he did nothing because he dont drive to the whole, so he doesn't create shots for anybody. He is good as passing to one of the wings on the side, but that is it...Bradley on the other hand, yeah started off the year bad. But you all got to remember this was the first year Bradley actually was counted on to play the whole game. His first two years, he probably played around 12 to 15 minutes. And in those games alot of the times, he was counted on come in and score for them. So he was still adjusting to his role at the pg spot. As we seen as the year went on, he started to do ALOT better at running the point. We should have stuck with him all year at the point, and had Perry at the 3 with Stevenson at the 4, and having Jasper and Meeks coming in off the bench. Because Jasper really excelled to start the year coming in off the bench...

Here was Jaspers game today: Turnover, immediately foul the guy that stole the ball from him. He did that 2 or 3 times today. Ok you turned the ball over but dont just go an foul him right away for no reason at all.

Jasper was not going to play much today...against KU you have to maximize your scoring option...he is not one.

I think he will be OK, but not at the one.

UK suffered more from a lack of a point guard this year than a power forward, IMO.

Look at all the games they lost late this year....a lot can be said about having a point guard that is a legit threat to score and make the correct pass.

Jasper was the 23rd best freshman in the country this year.

I can't believe they would take Jasper at the point over Collins and Reynolds. I don't care for that list too much at all.

People got on me for saying Bradley should have been at pg, well Jasper probably shouldn't have been at pg either. I really think he would be better off getting moved to the small forward position, and have him practice their all off season, and of coarse practice shooting the basketball...

I would say the part about lack of PG in close games killing us is dead on. A good pg would make sure the Cats would have at least gotten a shot off in a lot of those close games on the last possession. This year there were many times when they turned the ball over an didnt even get a shot attempt. Big example would be OT against Miss St in the tourney. Not 1 but 2 chances in the last 20 seconds to tie or win and neither possession did they get a shot off. Flat out terrible.

Well I dont think people have realized this, but Bradley NINE ASSISTS in todays game. Bradley all year got better at the point, and probably should have been at point all year over Jasper..

Yet people still hated on Bradley at the point. I been saying all year long, that alot of people only noticed the mistakes that Bradley makes sometimes when at the point. But they fail to notice alot of the good things he did at the point, which was more than the bad, and in the end was better than what Jasper ever did for us at the point...

I have not watched a lot of UK games this year but I was just reminded yesterday of why I dont enjoy it any more, by just simply watching the braindead play of Crawford, Bradley, and yes Meeks. When Morris got his 3rd foul and went to the bench, it was more the mentality of those three that took UK out of their game than the absence of Morris. Not once was there even an attempt to run a patient, pass it around and get a good shot type offence. Doesn't anybody on this team know what it is to take a well advised 3 point shot? One pass and then a 25 footer is about all I saw. Kansas took several 3 point shots, but the difference was they were not shot the first time each player touched the ball. They did a lot of quick passes around the perimeter, passed it into the post,and then back to the outside to open things up, etc.

 

Like I said, I have not watched a lot of UK games this year and maybe I am misjudging Meeks, but yesterday his mentality appeared to be no different than the mentality of Bradley and Crawford. All I see is a bunch of guys that feel like they have to shoot it every time they touch it, regardless of where they are at on the floor, or what the situation of the game is. And for me, that is the reason why I detest watching Kentucky play any more.

I would agree! He is such a liability when he is out there. It would be different if he brought a Defensive game to the table, but he doesn’t.
