March 19, 200719 yr There's been a little of that going around this evening. At least your statement was still true...though i guess mine was as well.
March 19, 200719 yr I don't think most people on here can objectively answer that. You are absolutely correct, and though I agree that playing time may be a consideration, with their talent and the chance that after 1 or 2 years they are going to try the NBA waters, would you rather rebuild a program or play for a team that has a chance to win a NTL Championship??
March 19, 200719 yr I like Patterson & Lucas but here we go again. Tubby was about under the bus a few years ago & he got a Great recruiting class (at the time) of Rondo, Crawford, Morris & Bradley. Those guys have not panned out so far, so why should we expect 2 guys to turn the program around?? I was a diehard UK fan but I miss several games a yr now b/c it is not what its suppose to be. I will always pick UK to go to the Final 4 on my bracket but this year, I thought Nova would beat us in Round 1. Time for someone to right the ship!! I dont think it will be Tubby but if he stays, he will surely need more help than what we have on this team.
March 19, 200719 yr I think Hobbs stays on board ... Rigot and Hanson are gone. I suspect it was suggested to Tubby a year ago that some changes may have been in order, and Tubby was too classy and loyal to just cut them loose. He tried to get Rigot another job and attempted to pawn Hanson off on Murray State, which wisely looked in another direction. This year, there will be a mandate. Tubby has to bite the bullet and make the moves.
March 19, 200719 yr Tubby had some lead way last season. Now he is gonna be forced to can his assistants. I still feel no relief in sight. Next season in my opinion is going to be worse then the last 2, assuming Morris goes, and no PPAT.
March 19, 200719 yr Like I said in another thread, the S&C coach was last years scapegoat. This year it will probably be Hanson or Rigot or both. I'm sick of excuses, fire the head coach.

How was he the scapegoat or the answer? He might make the kids a little stronger, but he def isn't making them any better. S/C isn't our root cause of failure.
March 19, 200719 yr ^ That is who they got rid of though. Thats my point... how in the world does this help our recruiting, or slow style of play? We shot an innocent bystander. I feel bad for the towel boy, his job might be next.
March 19, 200719 yr The next month or so shall be very interesting in the Big Blue Nation. Whatever Barnhart intends to do I hope he does it quickly, for recruiting purposes. I believe the option for Tubby to return is there. He will not be fired. I believe there will be some staff changes in order. Much of that should take place over the Final Four weekend. Staff's will be looking to fill holes and AD's will be looking to fill staff's. If Tubby decides he doesn't need to change the staff or the organization then you may see a buyout and justifiably so, in my opinion. What does Morris do? Does he take some money and forego his senior year, or does he come back for another season to polish his low-post game? I would place it at 50-50 at this point. Two big fish in the pond. Patrick Patterson and Jai Lucas. Will they get both, one or none? The way things have gone I don't like their chances. Who knows, but UK's best chance was to close the deal in the fall and they didn't do it. Any transfers? I think Porter knows his role and is happy. Perry Stevenson on the other hand is another story. His PT was inconsistent and I think the staff missed a real opportunity to develop him during the stretch of games in December. However, it was clearly evident that Stevenson was overmatched physically and was a turnover waiting to happen with the ball in his hands. It should be an interesting next few weeks for the Big Blue Nation...which is never a dull moment. Why?

For a 22-12 season and loss in the second round? Louisville should fire Pitino...Michigan State should fire Izzo...Duke should fire Coach K...Texas Tech should fire Knight... We fire Tubby and we're looking at a 12-22 season instead of vice versa, we'll miss out on Patterson and Lucas, Morris will leave, many will transfer. If anything Tubby should leave on his own, the way he is treated by sore losers and pessimists is horrendous.

Leading the SEC in double-doubles and carrying us on his back in the postseason?
March 19, 200719 yr UK or Maryland in a coin flip right now it seems. UK staff changes are important to follow at this point... If Tubby stays then Lucas is all but a done deal.

UL = Pitino took a what 4 year break from college, came back and still beat Tubby to the final 4. Mich State... doesn't have the expectations that UK has. Duke is reloading, you can't keep NBA millionaires on your roster for 4 years. Knight has taken TTECH a team whom didn't know about the NCAA tourney until he got there to the tourney the last few years, not to shabby if you ask me. Sorry but you gotta be better then good, to coach at UK.
