March 19, 200719 yr and we all know privates have the $$$$$. Actually, Jay, by money I was referring to football and all the money made by KHSAA from the privates in the playoffs. The big payday usually comes from Trinity and St. Xavier. To lose those pots of gold would seriously hamper the organization. Sorry I was not clear in my former post.
March 19, 200719 yr This is a joke, right? Do any kids who play sports get scholarships to go to private schools? Are you saying private school programs don't target the best athletes in m iddle schools? Whatever.
March 19, 200719 yr Do any kids who play sports get scholarships to go to private schools? Are you saying private school programs don't target the best athletes in m iddle schools? Whatever. I don't know about scholarships, but I know of one who paid for the tuition of a player to come to their school. He lived in government housing yet went to private school
March 19, 200719 yr I agree to disagree with anyone who argues that private schools do not have an advantage. I will not call out particular schools on a website. There are problems and the playing field is not level. I will continue rooting for my favorite teams and hope something or someone comes along and makes everyone play by the same set of rules.
March 19, 200719 yr How did LCA get so good so fast? Like most private schools through recruits and transfers. That is sometimes true ... Lexington Catholic's powerhouse teams of the last few years have had their players' backgrounds well-documented on here. I honestly don't know about the Lexington Christian players, although I haven't heard of any instances where they had talented players transfer in as they moved into the ninth grade. Did the LCA players come up through their feeder system/middle school program?

Well, Claude, you will make a serious accusation but you get all pompous when you are asked to put some facts with your statement. All must conclude that your accusations are, shall we say, without merit. The reason you will not "call out any particular school" is because your stonewalling proves that no such school exists. So much for credibility.
March 19, 200719 yr Relax Scooter. I don't remember attacking you or your mom. Why do you get so heated so quickly? If you think certain private schools have 200 players in their football program and all those players live in the same county as the school they attend, then you are in need of more info. There are several students who live in my county and attend a private school in a different county. But I guess you want their names, right? Easy big fella...you will not change my opinion and I don't care to change yours.
March 19, 200719 yr Your silly diversionary response won't work, Claude. I merely called your hand. You have no facts and you folded. If you want to be taken seriously, you should be able to back up your blatant accusations. No big deal at all. In fact, I knew you couldn't produce any evidence. If you wish to be an advocate for the publics and for their usual "level playing field" battle cry, you should come to the forum better prepared.
March 19, 200719 yr I agree, I would reather much see a private and public championship and then after those two winners have wont their respected championship, then play for a state one, where both of them play in one final game. Fine with me....we'd still be winning
March 19, 200719 yr I don't know about scholarships, but I know of one who paid for the tuition of a player to come to their school. He lived in government housing yet went to private school  That would be illegal. If so, please share, or else this is a violation of BGP.
March 19, 200719 yr Do any kids who play sports get scholarships to go to private schools? Some do, based on financial need. Now here is the wonderment of the whole thing. Students can only get 50% aid, that's right they are MAXED at 50%. So with Trinity around $8,500/year. How much would they have to pay? $4,250. How much does your lcoal public school charge? :sssh:
March 19, 200719 yr Private schools have the ability to "lure" students from outside a given area. Certain schools in this state have students from as many as 12 different counties and three different states. So, how is that fair to the public schools who have a designated area from which they draw students? Argue all you like and rationalize it any way you want, those are not fair ground rules and it will not change as long as the KHSAA doesn't want it to. The member schools made their opinions known and that didn't work out too well. That tells me all I need to know. I'm not saying anything about LCA in particular, but private schools as a group have a distinct advantage in enrolling students. Public schools can be open enrollment and draw from that area if the school board decides. It's not agianst the law. Now will it be fair for all areas of the state(rural vs. urban- I've been convinced by lbbc) probably not. Open enrollment will help public or private schools in heavily populated areas.
March 19, 200719 yr Go look at the volleyball titles also. I would look at sports like Volleyball, Golf, Tennis, and to less a degree soccer, and all on the girls side just a little bit differently when it comes to a public vs private deal. These so called "country club" sports, which do not have a long history in Ky. HS sanctioned sports, probably get the most participation from those with a more affluent background. I think with what you see with Lacrosse starting to develop in Ky, may be a similar thing if it becomes a sanctioned sport. Trinity and Lex Cath are very big at Lacrosse right now, and I don't know if a public school has a team. Just my ideas why some sports may have such a difference.
March 19, 200719 yr Scooterbob is still reeling because Rose Hills great recruits OJ and Bill got recruited out from under them. By the way Bob ole Boy, where exactly did OJ and Bill live anyway, in what district. Like you want eveyone else to, please be specific. Thanks in advance for a truthful answer without any spin.
