The fan base did not become unhappy with the recruiting class until that class fell flat on it's face.

They were upset from day 1. The class falling on its face was just icing on the cake. I can remember more than a few Lofton threads as the Cats were on their way to the Elite 8...

KEY WORD: NOW...At the time we had THREE ALL- AMERICANS and Bradley who was rated higher...Now I guess it's Tubbys fault for not hiring a fortune teller to see who would be the better player...

But wouldn't you agree that both are better than what was signed? I agree that in the case of Lofton other higher ranked players were signed but in the case of Neltner and Doellman they weren't exactly bumped by big time recruits.

I agree with you here, if we weren't going to get a a couple all americans for post players, we definitely should have got Neltner and Doellman say over Thomas and Orbzut...

I do agree they would have provided more to UK than what they got, but that's a bit of how things broke for UK over the past 4 years. By the time they whiffed on the big names JD and Ross weren't an option and the fall back plans got ugly. Looking back the entire UK class in 03 joined JD and Ross as 3 star prospects...

Hindsight is 20/20. I argued on this two years ago during Neltner's sophomore year at LSU. The majority of this board said that Neltner wasn't athletic enough to contribute at UK and that Bobby Perry was a better fit. I argued that I believed that Neltner was better on the boards and would fit in as a high post passer. This board can not go back after seeing the finished product and ask why? This is an opinion board, but some of this is not worth the time. UK made the right decision at the time regarding Lofton, he's just turned out to be a great player. UK made the wrong decision with this year's senior class, but nobody on here said anything until after Doellman's run this year in the Atlantic 10 and Neltner playing well at Vandy. We can't have it both ways.

The real problem could be that history is repeating itself. In state players are being over looked and 7' projects are getting offers and accepting.

The commentators make sure they comment on Tubby's/UK's boneheaded mistake by not recruting him. Anybody else notice?

If some of the posters on here put as much effort into proving themselves the superior members as they did in their REAL LIFE professions maybe they would actually make it off the C list and onto the B list.
