March 18, 200719 yr Let's face it, Tubby was not the only one that passed of Lofton. Pitino did as well as MANY other college coaches. Several came to see him play and had the same thoughts at OTS. Both OTS and Pitino have made public statements that they missed on him. I can live with the fact that they admit that they made a mistake. That to me is almost as big a compliment as recruting him. I have said it before and will say it again, Lofton is getting a free education and playing basketball at a D1 school. What more could you ask for him? Great post.:thumb: I agree.
March 18, 200719 yr A mistake that was made by ever coach in America except for Buzz Peterson....Hindsight is 20/20, but Tubby made the decision that every coach in America would've made at the time. He didn't live right in the back door of every coach in America. Lofton kicked butt and took names right inside Rupp on more than one occasion. That, IMO is what makes it look worse on Tubby. There is no way to rationalize Tubby missing out on Lofton...It was another Boneheaded mistake that Tubby nor his army will take responsibility for, any way you look at it.

UK had to even send Adam Williams to prep school for a year to make room for Morris. Yes, UK missed out, but face it that Lofton has turned out to be a diamond in the rough.....

He was has always been a diamond, but not in the rough. You actually have to go into the mine to get the diamond.

March 18, 200719 yr Loftons senior year I went to several UK games and I set with somebody from Mayesville. I asked him about Lofton, he said honestly I would love to have him at UK but I know the recruits have comming in are better than him, so I have no problem with Tubby passing on him. Best class in the country flubbed, Lofton didn't, hey it happens. I wished it didn't but it did. And be honest with yourself Lofton was good but he exploded at UT.

We had the #1 recruiting class in the country coming in....UK offers Lofton instead of Crawford or Rondo, and fans like you go crazy for him offering an in-state kid instead of a Burger Boy....At the time the decision was made Tubby made the correct call. BTW, he's stated numerous times that he made a mistake for not going after Lofton....So lets get facts straight before we say he hasn't taken responsibility for it...
