March 16, 200719 yr Can someone explain to me why that Duke can more often than not take their pick of All-Americans, yet at the end of the season we always end up talking about their short bench? They get about 2 or 3 of them a year, which leads to about an 8 man rotation. Honestly, they would have more depth IMO if they didn't just go after Burger Boys, but they've had a ton of success with it, so who's to argue?
March 16, 200719 yr They are Soph. McRoberts would be loved on any team other then Duke...his numbers this year are crazy....
March 16, 200719 yr I think Nolan Smith is the most important recruit they are getting next year. He can be a very good on the ball defender. Duke has been missing that for a while now. His athleticism on the perimeter will give Duke a boost.
March 16, 200719 yr Nice to meet you too Cat.....Duke will be tough next year, lets not forget about them...Singler could be the best in the class (Deng like), and lets hope Nolan Smith sits Nelson on the bench his senior year!
March 16, 200719 yr Paulus and McRoberts are both very good players, add the Singler and you have three very good players on top of the other good recruits plus Nelson. They should be a contender next season.
March 16, 200719 yr Josh McRoberts - 40 min. - 22 pts. - 12 reb. - 4 asst. - 5 blk Greg Paulus - 38 min. - 25 pts. - 5 reb. - 4 asst. - 3 stl. Not too shabby if you ask me. Of course if you're going with raw numbers it should be noted that Paulus had 6 Turnovers to his 4 assists and shot 8-18 from the field and 6-11 from the line in a 2 point game. In my book he gets very little credit for those numbers and should have a large part in Duke bowing out in the opening round.
March 16, 200719 yr And besides that McRoberts lost all credibility when he chose to cry at the drop of a hat in a game that he was winning. Particularly when it was a regular season game and he was a sophmore. He can average 35pts and 20 rebs from now on and I'll still see him crying on the bench.

March 16, 200719 yr Duke needs to recruit more athletes. The bench looks like an Adolph Rupp team. If they had a Hill, Langdon, Battier, or Deng at the wing both players would be better. This is by no means racist, but they showed 5 players on the bench last night. One was mixed but was very light skinned and the other 4 were white. They had 3 white kids on the floor. Last time I checked that doesn't equal talent or athleticism.
