Oldham Co. v/s Scott Co. predictions

Featured Replies

Yoda, its a 40 point game. The 8th was one of the worse region in the state. You can play it up all you want, but the talk away from these boards is complete domination by Scott County. Oldham hasn't seen a team like this in over two years. Get ready for some highlights by SC. And I don't think Hicks will be calling the dogs off in this one.

Who knows about calling off the dogs. Billy Hicks has always been a coach that went to his bench early in blowout wins. However, I can remember in the opening round of the 2000 tournament SC played Mercer County, possibly the worst team ever in the Sweet 16. SC played their starters very little in this game. Hicks told me latter that he felt this hurt SC in the second round game, a narrow SC win over Iroquois. He wanted his first line players to get the feel for playing in the state tournament in the first game and they were not able to do this.

I was also in the room when a very close coaching friend asked Hicks to run the score up on one of Hicks' friends coaching enemies. Hicks replied that he would not intentionally run it up on any team and that would always come back to haunt you latter. He did say if his reserves ran the score up that he wouldn't stop them. If SC is fortunate to have a big lead on OC, Hicks will go to his bench. However, if I were SC I sure wouldn't overlook anyone in the Sweet 16.

Scott Co. is obviously a huge favorite in this one. Billy Hicks has too much class and too much experience to intentionally embarrass another team, but you can't tell kids to quit playing. Scott Co. has alot of depth and the reserves may be able to extend the lead.

You know it's funny how things continually change. I can recall watching an unbelievable semi-final game back in 1998 when Scott County upset Lexington Catholic in an exciting comeback win. They then went on to win the State Tournament against Paintsville. I can recall the majority of the people in the stands getting behind Scott County especially against LexCath who many around the State had taken a dislike (Understatement).

Now that Scott Co. is such a huge favorite to win it all, I expect many at Rupp next week will be cheering for the underdogs that go up against Scott Co. I don't know that this will have much effect as Scott Co has a very strong contingent of fans that make alot of noise.

I'm not sure there is anything that can stop this Heat Wave that's going on in Scott Co.

I think its ironic that Hoops Yoda has a quote in their avatar mentioning Scott County with the word "recruiting".

That quote is directly from the superintendent of SC schools. Go Cards!

If we're fortunate enough to be in a position to make that decision - Coach Hicks will put in the subs and call off the full court press. He will still play the same intense half-court defense with the reserves - trapping if they set ball screens and getting out in the passing lanes.

I hope that's a decision Coach Hicks has to make on Wednesday :thumb:

Scott Co 20+.

One of my family members called the ticket office to get seats for the Scott COunty games the other day. He told them he wanted to sit by his team and they asked which team it was. When he told them Scott County they said o well you wont have to worry about not sitting with their fans because they are everywhere. So I don't think the crowd cheering against the cards will be a problem.

The tickets offered at the school sold out the first day. GO CARDS!!!

It sure is funny how people talk bad about the 8th region, like all other regions have nothing but superior talent. You guys are a bunch of blow hards.

Ditto!!!! Well said:thumb:

Sure is gonna be funny how bad the Cards are gonna beat Oldham COunty unless OC plays four corners.

Sounds like sour grapes. You must have played on the Scott Co. teams that could not get past Oldham Co. in 2001 and 2002. Or maybe you played in 2003 when Grant Co. sent Scott Co. packing in the first round of the 32nd District Tournament.;)

Good point...But this is 2007 and Oldham County is NOT the team it used to be with no real college level talents and Scott County with a minimum of 2 (D1 players Mackey to IU and Walls with the UK walkon offer). Those two are not the ones they should worry about, its 6'6 Jordan Lee.

Acually I didn't play for those Scott County teams but I sure am going to enjoy watching this team absolutely destroy what the 8th region has to offer.

Yeah, you are right. The 8th Region is not quite as strong as it used to be when the UTSC (University of Toyota Scott County) was there for all of us 8th Region peasants to look up to.

With the talent Scott Co. has , they should win the state title. If they do not, shame on them. By the way, does you daddy know you are using his laptop?

I agree. I was just making a point to Catzrule. This Scott Co. team is loaded with talent.
