Sounds good.I've just got a lot of excitement for next year already.

South Laurel is a very good high school team with three really big strong kids in Hammonds, Profitt and Smith. Their role players are big and strong as well. I think they are really good on defense when Hamm and Bortnem come into the game. Corbin played hard all night and battled against the odds. I look forward to following the Hounds progress over the next couple of years. Great Coaching job by Coach P. This time things just did not work out. Hopefully South will play well next week and make a run in the Sweet 16. I will not comment on the officating, but will say people saw what they saw and nothing more needs to be said.

 

Some things speak for themselves. I will say that the game was called the same for 90% of the players on the floor.

 

The Hounds seemed to be paddling upstream after the first 3-4 minutes of the game and never could quite get over the hump. They left it all on the floor though and had a chance to win at the end.

Sometimes it seems like people read the newspapers and have some pre- conceived notions coming into a game. Hounds have nothing to hang their heads about. I think Cumberland, Corbin, Bell or South could have won the region if things were a bit different. South wins and advances. I am sure Coach P and company will continue to work and try to improve for next year. Sometimes the ball does not bounce your way. Overall a very fine tournament. The staff at CHS did all they could do to make things go smoothly. It is a pitty we do not have a neutral site with about 5,000 seats to play the regional each season.

I agree with you Bubba. We need a neutral site like that ... that would be GREAT.

If the new Corbin center gets underway it would be nice if the schools would vote to hold it there......will the region be at KC next year? Maybe the old gym would be better than the new one?

I'm sure everyone would love to see Corbin host the regional year in and year out.

 

Rotating it amongst the schools is working out just fine.

I don't know about having it at Corbin ... I know if I were from the Harlan or Clay area ... I wouldn't be for it ... but as for next year ... they haven't decided yet, but I look for it to be at KC ... it would be better to have it at the old gym IMO.

The narrow minded approach is what handicaps the region and area....just look at the All A. If there was a neutral arena.....that could seat and park everyone....a place where no team plays a majority of their home games then why not play it there....look at Morehead, EKU, Owensboro, heck even the teams in the 10th picked Mason.......it just makes sense.....build it in Harlan or Manchester and then we can all enjoy the tournament better.....the jealously and stuff needs to be put aside

With that said, I hope you guys liked our sections the past week and a half tht we've been putting out.

I listened to the game on the radio and it was exciting. I bet the atmosphere was great at the actual game. It sounded like Corbin and South played their best and both should be proud. As for the refs and whatever calls were seen as questionable, someone posted on another thread a while back that, "There are only 3 people watching the game with their eyes, everyone else is watching with their hearts". I know that it's a bit sappy but it sounded nice.

I have watched Corbin play a bunch the previous two years. I have only watched a hand full of games this season. I was very impressed with their play. Coach Pietrowski and his staff have done an excellent job. Corbin should keep their heads up, they have a very bright future.

 

I am only showing up to post some interesting information. South had six players on the floor at the end of regulation.
