Corbin played with all their heart and soul. I am very proud of them. I may be biased but it truly did seem that the officiating was a little lopsided. However, we did not convert on several opportunities. We're young and we will be back. If indeed it is found that there were six players on the floor . . . can it be contested? Best of luck to South at Rupp. We'll get ya next year!

Corbin will lose three seniors but only a couple saw much playing time and that was #4 Josh Hamlin and the other #44 Clayton Sewell. Our younger kids got some experience under their belts and we have some others coming up from the JV that will do a good job for us in the next couple of years. We will be going to the dance before long.:ylsuper:

This may be a silly question, but what is the reasoning behind bringing in officials that have not called any of your games all year?

Because there is entirely too much personal conflict of interest, and that is a no brainer. You have referrees that live in the region, went to school at schools in the region, have relatives including sons and daughters playing in the region, I dont mean to be smart, but with all due respect, this is a silly question. I dont think the 13th region refs should do any District, Region or All A Region games in their own region.

No hate, just wondering what makes one kid get a call and the other not? Fine player no doubt. But a foul is a foul on both ends...Hand checks are hand checks......regardless of how hyped one is.

Hey Bubba, I dont think there is a referree anywhere in the state that would have called a hand check in that situation and I dont think there should have been one called either. As for Mr Ty Proffitt, he is probably one of the best if not the best pure point guard to ever play in the 13th Region. I know there have been more talented players, but as far as being a pure point guard I dont know if there has ever been one better, his and South Laurels record speaks for itself.

Not sure Proffit will be the point in college. I think Notre Dame already has a dandy playing for them now. He is a fine player and wish him the best. My point was he got calls when no other player from South or Corbin could, get the same calls. Not his fault at all. He deserves all the hype he gets as well as the Cardinals. They are a fine team and will do their best to make the region proud next week. Cards won, Hounds lost, both teams have bright futures.

I agree with you there Bubba, The RED Hounds and some RED Skins from Cumberland both have bright futures along with 3 or 4 more young teams in the 13th that will make our Region a very strong Region next year.

The game tape was reviewed and there were six players on the floor for the Cards when Crawford shot the last shot of the game. Apparently, there is nothing that can be done. It's a shame that the game had to end with such controversy. We will be back next year . . . and we will be ready to go to the dance.

Just a question but, if there were more than 5 players on the court at the end of the game, with only 2+ seconds to go on the clock could a player have just been prematurly celebrating and not actually participating in the game? I can see the bench getting excited and jumping up, maybe moving onto the floor. I hate to see controversy at the end of what seems to have been a great game.

The film shows that six players were on the floor when the ref gave the ball to the Corbin player to throw it in. There were still six players on the floor when Josh released his shot . . . at that point Hammonds realized it (I guess) and exited to the bench. It should have been a technical but wasn't called by any of the refs. We will be left to wonder.

When you say, "on the floor"...was he leaving but not off, or guarding another player.

 

Where was he, on the floor in relation to the bench?
