Reason I ask, the lead Official is usually obligated to make sure all players have exited the floor, prior to the trail Official, handing the ball for play.

Sure, I realize that . . . but there were still six players on the floor and if a technical was called the outcome may have been different. We'll just never know.

No, you're right. But I guess my point is it appeared the calls went South Laurels way most of the evening. I really just hate that there will be controversy over the win. I am not crying over spilled milk. We had other opportunities that we never converted. Like I said before, we're young and we'll be back.

Not disagreeing with you, just trying to get an idea where the 6th player was....

 

At the same time, if the player was attempting to leave and the ball was put in play early, prior to him exiting the floor, then that is an Official's oversight and no technical should be accessed.

And, Strike 3, you hit it on the head ... if so, it's an official's oversight ... no technical should be accessed.

The Redhounds played a great game, but couldn't hit some free throws. Look for Corbin to rebound next year and make another run.

This is the story that I have heard. They had someone check in at the timeout for Hammonds, but they forgot to tell Hammonds and he thought he was still in the game. They were trying to get him off the floor as Crawford was going for the shot.

 

You would not want South to get a technical over something like this, but you would also hope that it did not influence the play in any way, something that we will never know. It doesn't matter at this point for this game, South hit the shot at the end and Corbin was not able to.

Josh Crawford is a stud and one of the nicest players you'll meet.

Corbin was on the short end of some calls during the game, no doubt about that, but they also missed some which I thought hurt South. BUT there should have been a charge on Profitt late, BUT now Corbin can see how it is sometimes for other teams when the Redhounds get away with some things because they are the favored team.

 

Bottom line......

 

Corbin had their chances despite the officiating and other factors and did not make the plays. South won despite panicing and almost giving it away.

 

Both teams should be proud of their efforts and face it only one team in the state of Kentucky is going to finish their season with a win......I am sure that this game will be one small motovating factor for Corbin in the hot summer months during summer ball.

 

Just a side note....Corbins fans here on preps are pretty a classy bunch, and I believe them when they say they would not have wanted to win on a technical foul, but I would bet my bottom dollar the majority (like 99%) of the fans would have taken the win and laughed all the way to Rupp. But that is the nature of the fan.
