Good win for Oldham they just got the job done in every game in the tournment. I really did not see this coming, so hopefully they can suprise me and everbody else with atleast one more win.

Coach Forrest was an Assistant Coach when I played. This is his 5th or 6th trip to the State tournament since he took over at Oldham Co. Good luck to the Colonels.

Simon began the game by going into Josh Hurd, and they finished the game by going into Josh Hurd. Unfortunately, they kind of forgot about him in the middle.

 

He got into foul trouble and had to sit much of the 2nd and 3rd quarters. He is a beast though. At one stretch early on he had about 5 blocks in a 1:00 span. However, he missed an easy shot late in overtime that hurt SK bad and that pretty much ended their chances. Coach Forrest stayed with his game plan, even when they fell behind by 8 points early and they executed really well. He is outstanding.

Yea Red they did but they obviously don't fit in that top 25 category.:jump: :banana:

On the broadcast, they did say that he hurt his ankle. Didn't hear much more about him until the 4th quarter.

Congrats to Oldham and Coach Forrest. This has to really sting SK because the talk all season (dating back to the preseason) was how they were going to WALK through the 8th much like Shelby did a year ago. SK will definitely be in the mix for years to come but this year was the one they had to take advantage of.

 

I agree that it does sting, and this was a great opportunity but I think most in the "know" knew it wouldn't be a cakewalk. We're we the favorite for most of the year, yes but the game is played on hardwood and not in the LIT, Cantrall or in a BGP thread. Congrats to Oldham Co, and good luck against Scott Co and the rest of the field.

He looked to be at full speed to me.....The ankle injury must of affected his stroke. Actually Hurd getting into foul trouble and Simon not being able to knock down wide open shots determined the outcome of this game.

Rojas, I see your point about the schedule. It really doesnt matter at this point. I saw Scott County play a few times this year including the Arlington game. Scott County will dominate this game from the minute layup lines start. But you have to give Forrest credit too. From what a buddy of mine was saying that knows Oldham pretty well, he said they have no college level players except maybe at the lower end and Forrest was able to get a ticket to Rupp.

Oldham is a large school in a fast growing area. Why do they not have any college level kids?

Good for Zwick I heard he played really well down there.

That is what I meant Neerfan. I was just being sarcastic. The Pioneers had a great year but I think some will take away from that because they didn't "do what they were supposed to do". Simon Kenton has established itself as a player in the 8th with back to back regional championship game appearances. There is some very good young talent in the 8th and I look for the region to return to strength over the next couple of years.
