Montgomery had 3000 in a home district game with GRC. The fact is, it does not matter how many fans it can hold it is more of a question of how many tickets they are going to sell. At that limit, they stop and the rest go to the car and listen, better get there early. Nobody builds a multi million dollar facility to let it sit idle and not host the region. The region WILL be held at Montgomery and I am no doubt certain that it will be a pleasant experience.

Oh by the way all of you khsaa buffs out there. Ask the commissioner and her staff if they liked the facility since she and four other staff members took in a game or two during the girl's region tourney.

It depends which side of the door you are on to make a statement like that. If you are from Montgomery and lucky enough to get a seat, then I am sure you would like the chance Montgomery was given. If you would be the one turned away due to fire code, then you probably would not feel like that. You know it's bad when the Fieldhouse has to turn people away. The 2005 Pendleton-Montgomery final turned many, many people away!!! If Pendleton would be in the finals at Montgomery, I guarantee the gym would be full of just Pendleton fans, and probably most of Montgomery would be standing out in the cold looking in!

A school can turn in whatever seating capacity they want to the KHSAA. No one checks.

Montgomery County's gym is nice but its capacity is approximately 1,400 less than the Fieldhouse. This from someone most definitely in a position to know.

 

As I've often said in similar threads; if the district votes for Montgomery to host, let them host. They at least deserve a chance. But if 1,000 to 1,500 fans can't get in the door, the situation should be re-evaluated.

This is a very interesting debate, w/good arguments on both sides. However, what it all comes down to is seating capacity and Mason has more!

This is probably the only time that I will cheer for Mason Co.

I wish that people would get the blinders off. This is the one and only region in the state that host the region every year at a competitors school. How this even got started is beyond my belief. This has nothing to do with Mason Co. or Montgomery Co., the Fieldhouse or whatever Montgomery decides to call their gym. It is about some form of rotation. People think that this is the only region in the state that has to turn people away at regional tournament games. It is not!!! The other regions don't panic because they turn people away and decide that the tournament should be at the largest gym in the region every year because this is apart of it. In other regions people know the gyms and they know what places they may have to get to a little earlier if they REALLY want to watch the game. Some regional sites may require more travel time, but these people traveling know that eventually it will come closer.

I say keep it at the Fieldhouse! It's about tradition for me. I can't imagine going to a 10th region tournament anywhere else. JMO

The only solution to this problem is obvious:

 

First - The new gym will need to be demolished

 

Second - Hire Pressrow and Polarbear1994 to design the new gym

 

Third - Contract bricklayer to build it (simply because he lays brick)

 

Forth - Hire Starmayor to be the official seat counter

 

Fifth - Hire U Reach I Teach to be a consultant

 

Sixth - Give John Boy a job so he doesn't feel left out

 

Seventh - Find something for ladiesbballcoach to do so he/she doesn't spend so much time on the computer

 

And Last - Reserve CountryBoy7 a seat just in case

 

 

On another note about this thread - to the guy talking about Daniel Brown not having a supporting cast. When Brown was shooting 50 shots a game it makes it tough for the supporting cast to be noticed.

The only solution to this problem is obvious:
