Give Montgomery a chance and see what happens

 

I attended three of the four sessions of games at Mason for the regional tourney, (only missed Mason and Mont. game). The only time the Mason gym was close to full was for the championship game. Montgomery's gym could easily handle the crowds up to the championship game.

 

Give Mont. Co. a chance to host the region tourney!!!

Was you at the same Mason vs Brossart semifinal game?? You have got to be kidding me. No way it could handle that semifinal game nor the championship game. It barely held the girls championship game. We all want to give Montgomery County their chance and they probably will get it and best of luck to them.....but no way can I agree with your comment above.

Was you at the same Montgomery vs Mason game? I was there, and there was a lot of room in the upper level on the Mason side and in the end zone area(upper and lower). I believe that if people would have sat in just their spot and not taken up two spots you would have seen more room. The best place to watch a game in the gym is in each corner of the upper level.

If you would go back reread my post I said the semifinal game and championship game and nothing about the quarterfinal game. If you would go back and check my post about first round games, I doubted that there would be crowds for those games with the start times of 5 and 8:30. Too early and late for games thru the week IMO. Therefore yes there would be room and other gyms could host the first round, but like my post above not the 2nd and final round.

I hope this never happens, but it is coming to the district winners hosting the 1st round games. The best record of the remaining teams the 2nd round game, and the Fieldhouse for the Semis and Finals

I was talking about the girls championship game, not the boys first round game.

This was discussed by the AD's about doing that for this years tournament. It was shot down real quick.

 

They play the first round of the All A Region at different sites and to me that has really killed the atmosphere of the All A. Most of the "A" coaches I've talked to would like to play the entire tournament at one site. Don't be suprised if you see it go back to one site next year.

Maybe in 3 years there maybe 1 site, the new school here in Robertson County. I've heard another property just out of the city limits goin' toward Sardis on US 62 is being looked at as we speak.

From a totally non-partial, non-biased point of view. Anyone who would say or think that it's not a huge advantage to host this tourney every year is fooling themselves. Turn em down and alternate host teams!!! At least between the two biggest gyms.

There was a proposal a few years ago that Bracken County and Paris would host the 10th Region "A" Tournament on an annual basis, rotating the boys and girls tournament each year.

 

Unfortunately, the coaches shot it down.

 

I'd like to see them revisit that proposal and adopt it.

 

Deming is a parking and geographical disaster, Nicholas County is impractical, and Brossart is too small.

 

Bracken and Paris would serve everyone well.
