Yes it was and Daniel could flat fill it up, unfortunately he didn't have a supporting cast.

I would hate to drive an hour and forty five minitues and be turned away. Even if Montgomery can hold it i belive it should be held at the gym that seats the most regardless if that was Mason or Montgomery

Next year with Mason Co being the big favorite...don't look for the crowd you had yesterday at next years finals.

Amen brother! I once went to the Fifth Third Classic and many were turned away and ended up being the best game I've ever witnessed. It doesn't make much sense to me that Montgomery host it when they can only seat 4,000 fans and yesterday's attendance was 5,300. There will be about 1,500, most likely Mason County fans, really upset.

 

Any chance of having NKU host it every third year eventually when they're new facility is finished?

There has been larger crowds on championship day for the regional title than there was on Sunday and it doesn't matter who the opponent is. I can personally relate to a 1992 final that pitted Mason County(the heavy favorite) taking on Nicholas County and I am telling you the fieldhouse had a larger seating capacity at that time and there were people standing all over the gymnasium. There couldn't have been a single person left in Nicholas County that night. Crowds will always turn out to watch 10th Region basketball at the fieldhouse......all about tradition.

 

 

That was when capacity was 6500 ( I think). I was there, squeezed into the corner in the upper arena. The number I heard for that day was close to 7000!

I attended a regular season game between clark and montgomery. waited in the cold 45 minutes for entry could not understand why you build new facility and people wait out in the cold.

Does anyone have numbers from the girls championship that was held in Mt. Sterling Saturday night?

Being from Scott High School and only the second year in the 10th I have only seen Mason's gym. But from the last two years experciences, I would not want to play any where else. Mason puts on a great tourney! How far would Montgomery Co. be for Scott to travel?

Not sure on the exact distance but, it would be 100+ miles.

Wow, thats pretty far for the NKY teams to travel. Mason is only 58 miles

According to Mapquest it would be 111.95 miles.

I've heard that the new gym in Mt. Sterling only holds 4,500 tops. Anyone have the attendance stats from yesterday? The fire marshall would play a big role if Montgomery hosts one in the future.

I heard this number also, and for anyone who has been in the gym I think they would testify that this can't be right. If it is right then their are a whole lot of gyms across the state with really distorted capacities including the Fieldhouse.

For those of you that attended the 10th Region finals game yesterday between Mason County and Clark County and have been to the new Montgomery Co. gym, do you think that Montgomery Co. can host a crowd like the Fieldhouse did yesterday?
