The home court advantage is just that...an advantage. Why? Well, because the home team practices there every day. They're familiar with the floor, the rims, the background, the atmosphere. In other words, they're in a comfort zone. Plus, they don't have to drive two hours to the game. It's at least a 10 point advantage.

And that's why the NCAA doesn't allow this to happen.

To say that to play on your home court is not an advantage is ludricrous.

 

The only arguments I have seen are that Mason seats a lot of people, we can make a lot of money, and it's a tradition. Well, forget that. It's a selfish point. Money isn't everything. How about considering something called fairness. Maybe someone may not get into a game at a smaller venue. Big deal! Get there early and you get in. But Clark, Montgmery, and other parts of the region deserve an opportunity to host the region every now and then. Their fans shouldn't have to drive 2 hours every year and the schools around Maysville don't. That's not fair. That's my humble opinion. We certainly don't do it that way in the 14th region, and Knott Central's gym seats just 300 less than Mason's.

 

Not a selfish point, all schools get a healthy cut of a check and even cut so not selfish in that respect. To small schools, money is everything as it does their programs so much benefit for years down the road. Clark had their opportunity in 1969 and couldn't manage. Montgomery will get their opportunity possibly next year and we will see how that goes. Other parts of the region? Where? Who drives 2 hrs away every year? Maybe that is the NKy schools on the girls side of the tournament that had that long trip just a little under 2 hours to Montgomery County, but where is two hours on the boys side when its held from at the Fieldhouse? Smaller venue and fans not getting in is a big deal in the 10th region, attend a semifinal game and championship game year in and year out and you will realize the reason for the bigger venue in the 10th region. I am sure in the 14th, its a pretty good region tournament, maybe attendance and being able to house fans is not a issue.....if so then there is your difference, it matters in the 10th. In the end, the team that has the most points on the scoreboard is the team that wins the game.

Hey PR and URIT, I played alot of basketball down at Beechwood and I was in some awfully good games there.(there was a goal nailed up to a tree, but since then it's changed), no homecourt advantage there(unless you forgot about the tree and slammed into it), let's see the homecourt advantage thing again has arisen, let's see in a 3 years after Robertson County builds the new school and see if we could hold the 10th Region Tournamnet.:laugh: Most people complain about driving over here during the regular season from Maysville by saying the road is so crooked and hilly it's almost in possible to get over here to a ballgame.:sleep: well I've been a few Roads in Mason County that are worse(Brandywine and Happy Ridge to name a few).

But if the topic of Homecourt Advantage comes up again let's give Robertson County(Deming) a chance after the new school is built and see if we can host a the tournament, proably won't be as bit as the Fieldhouse but neither is Montgomery County.:thumb:

I think we won't know how Montgomery Co. will handle a Regional Final if we never LET them attempt it. Sometimes change is painful but beneficial. To the post a ways back re: the Montgomery's gym was full "for the girls final"-- as the parent of female athletes, I take exception to this statement, for one- and secondly, maybe A LOT of people showed up to watch and that's why it was full, not b/c the gym is small?!?!?! :confused:

As for Robby Graham, I am a GRC fan who is VERY GLAD he came to Clark Co.-and not just b/c of the athletes he brought. Coach Graham, Coach Jones, and their families have been great assets to our school. Tristan and Robbelle are obviously great athletes but they are good kids as well.

As for our basketball team, yes, they struggled ugly at some points this year. and that struggling (playing without Tristan, Preston, Robbie) is the reason they won on Sunday. Kids got a chance to step up when these guys didn't play. I believe that was a HUGE factor on Sunday. It's good to peak at the right time!

Devilman, if you take either Brandywine or HappyRidge road to the fieldhouse then you have traveled well off the map from mt olivet to the fieldhouse. those roads are better used for a cocktail by people wanting to avoid the law.:laugh:
