March 11, 200719 yr If T-Mac were a freshman in the Big XII his stats would not be any different. I don't think so. TMac could score on par with Durant, but not rebound as well. Besides, TMac would have been playing for Kentucky anyway.
March 11, 200719 yr I don't think he was this good at 18... Such a hard comparison being that he went to the NBA... He averaged 18.4 minutes/game...7 ppg, and 4.2 rpg as a rookie...hard to translate that to college basketball.
March 11, 200719 yr Durant is a little ahead at the same age, IMHO. He can post up, shoot the three, go to the hole too. And on defense he is a legit shot blocker as well. Who knows what will happen when he turns pro but right now he does look better overall and more confident for sure. Durant is also a little taller as well but still can play on the wing too. Tremendous upside for Durant, one of the top 10 college players I have seen in my lifetime and that covers a lot of years.
March 11, 200719 yr NBA Comparison: Dirk Nowitzki/Tracy McGrady Strengths: A dynamic wing player with freakish length and agility and a scorers mentality … Has the ability to essentially score at will on the college level ... A special player offensively, who has fully developed post skills to go along with an NBA-range jumper ... His ability to pull up off the dribble is absolutely illegal for a 6-10 player ... Simply dominates even elite NCAA competition and top defenders, as his combination of height, length, athleticism, and skill is completely unrivaled on this level ... Despite a laid-back nature, he has developed leadership and demands the ball in crunch time ... He's skilled and instinctual enough to have an offense run through him ... Kevin Durant, NBA comparison

March 11, 200719 yr So will he get Player of the Year? I say the award means nothing if he doesn't. It really isn't even close. You cannot make a legit arguement for anyone against him.
March 12, 200719 yr What really stinks is we'll only see one season of him on the college level. The kid is so good, it's really scary, even when he forces a shot it's a good shot. During today's game they kept talking about Rush playing D on him, after a few toasty moves I labled Durant's moves as "Toasty".
March 12, 200719 yr He told the team after the loss today he is returning next year... What will Bob Knight have to say about that?
March 12, 200719 yr To the team or sit three rows behind the bench wearing his bling? I don't think he'll be back but just passing on what I've heard...
