Holmes may be taking on the KHSAA...

Featured Replies

Whatever side you take on this, everyone has to admit that the KSSAA needs to make prompt decisions on stuff like this. When did the kid transfer? And they still haven't made a final ruling? Then you put in the hearing officers recommendations.

Don't look for Revels to join the team. From an inside source Revels has not been practicing with team in organized practices. Now if he has been playing pickup games with team members its been outside of a structured environment. After all he is a cousin to Rice so to say he has not played with some of Holmes players outside of Team practice well thats another story. The KHSAA prohibts players from practicing unless they are eligible. Its a long shot to sat the KHSAA would rule him eligible and I truly don't believe Coach Henley and A.D. Madrick would let him join the team this late in the game. In defense of the kid it is a shame that half of his senior year was wasted and that the KHSAA takes so long to decide these cases. Even if he is ruled eligible how could the coaching staff welcome him with open arms knowing that he had not participated in a organized practice also knowning this could upset the apple cart with the momentum Holmes has been building. Hopefully the KHSAA will step up and make the call taking the pressure off Holmes back, do we let him play or not?

How in the heck can they still be "deciding" this matter, when districts have started and regionals are next week?? Didn't he transfer around Christmas, because he was at the 5/3rd with them in street cloths I think??

The kid transfered right around Christmas break. He was with the team at a tourney in J-town in street clothes watching the game. His tranfer papers had been sent to Taft High at that time for his release. Shortly after they were sent to KHSAA for ruling and we all know what their decision was at that time. You are right the KHSAA and their Hitler mentality needs to get on the ball and not let situations like this one drag on. Holmes would have accepted him with open arms at the break, but now?

Reggie Revels transferred to Holmes High School. The KHSAA prevented him from playing. A hearing officer disagreed with the KHSAA. However, since Reggie Revels is a senior and tournament play began, we filed a court action. Judge Summe has ruled that if the (KHSAA) Board of Control does not rule by tomorrow on the KHSAA appeal, Reggie Revels can play. Whether he plays or not will obviously be a decision of the Holmes athletic department.

Check out Ryan Ernst's blog for the rest of the story.

As for your line Holmes may be taking on the KHSAA, They in fact are not. This was a decision by the Revels Family to hire an attorney and go to a court proceeding to try and get a ruling because of the slowness of the KHSAA. I truly don't believe the Covington School district would pay for an attorney to fight this kids battle unless he was the second coming of Michael Jordan.

At the 5/3 Tournament, some of us were wondering when Revels would get an eligibility ruling. If the KHSAA sat on this for that long without issuing a ruling, and it appears they did, they did everyone involved a grave injustice.

Surely your not surprised.

Two and a half months later, and still no conclusion. Another black eye for the KHSAA, not because of any decision made, but again by the way the whole thing was handled. The KHSAA makes the NCAA look competent.

And you believe that!

If you don't think Henley has seen or doesn't know anything about this

Kid then I got a couple of front row seats you can buy at the sweet 16.

He has been practicing with them.

If he has Holmes has broken a serious KHSAA rule.

That post should be deleted.

Coach Henley is a class act and to question his character is completely out of line.

I have filmed games for football and basketball there in the past and trust me he has not practiced with the team.

Thank You for that comment. You are 110% correct about Coach Henley and this kid has not and I repeat has not been practicing with the team!

If they allow this kid to play it will be a joke. They don't need him and if they win the region wiht him it will go down as a Tainted Regional title. Let he Bulldogs win it with the team they have.

My gut feeling is that the KHSAA will dig their heels in deeper at this point. I don't believe they like having their authority questioned by lawyers and court orders on eligiblity issues. Do not look for KHSAA to reverse their ruling at this point. Holmes will finish the season with team as is.

I feel sorry that Holmes has to be involved in a long drawn out process to get a player eligible. No seriously I do.
