Owsley 41 Lee 39

Featured Replies

Were the refs a factor in this game or did they let the kids leave everything on the floor and determine who was going to win this one? Which is how it should be in the districts and region. Just wondering, heard they may of been a couple of calls either way that may of went the Owls way.

Yes most calls with the exception to the Intentional Foul went for the Owls. I would have to say that foul was probably and intentional but as said before it was iffy and the player missed both of the free throws anyways. In the first minute and a half there were two three second calls called against Lee completely knocking them out of rythm. There still was a few or a bunch against Lee like missed walks but still that is no excuse at any point.

Someone stated earlier about Lee County's apathetic offense. THis just backs up the argument.

This is probably one of the most unusual big rivalry you will ever see. The game is almost always fought tooth and nail, and the fans are very passionate in their particular rooting interest. However, there is never any trouble, no hard feelings among fans or players. I'll bet almost every Lee County fan will tell you that they are for Owsley from here on out. Go Owls!

So true, the first person that spoke to me after the ball game was a Lee County School official. He told me to send congratulations to Coach Parrett and wished Owsley good Luck in the rest of the tourney. Very Classy.

Your right...home cooking baby!! Give me a break. There was one three second call and by the way if you'll check the books Lee shot more freethrows than Owsley did. However lets all be grateful I mean I don't want to bring up the infamous "clock malfunction" that allowed lee to inbound the ball take three dribbles and nail a 1/2 court shot with about 1.9 seconds on the clock to beat Owsley a few years back. Bottom line is the refs done an outstanding job, i'll agree that because there human they may have missed some. Congrats to Owsley.

who do you think Owsley will play in the fineal game in the dist and who will win?

I wouldn't say a great career. (61-50) over 4 years, one trip to the regional tournament, one class a regional title, and one district title. No regional tournament wins...

2004- (12-15) lost in opening rd. of district by 10 pts. to Wolfe Co.

2005- (11-16) lost in opening rd. of district by 17 pts. to Owsley Co. (who they had lost to twice by a total of 3 pts. - and Owsley lost their head coach mid-way through the season)

2006- (24-8) won class a region by def. Jackson, Jenkins, Owsley, and Buckhorn (Owsley knocked off 23-6 JBS, and Hazard - eventual region champion was upset by Wolfe Co. by 3) or who knows??? 56th dist. champs and then got drilled by 15 points in the opening round of the region to Leslie Co.

2007- (14-11) lost to Owsley Co., who they had beaten by 23 and 39 pts.

Good summary; hardly an impressive resume' for the the bobcats over the last 4 years. I really thought thewy would have greater success. Does anyone know what happened to them this year? Was it internal strife? They seemed lifeless to me.

This is why they play the game. Always good to see an upset here and there. It's March Maddness Baby!!!!!

There was no internal strife that I am aware of. At home, this team could, and did, hang with anybody. Sometimes, actually a lot of times, when on the road, they just didn't seem real interested, especially after the All A Regional last year.

Lee Co record @ home this season : 8W/1L (88% wins)

Lee Co record @ away this season : 6W/10L (36% wins)

Only loss @ home was to Henry Clay by 3 pts.

Avg ppg @ home : 67

Avg ppg @ away : 55

(Avg ppg; away losses = 50 ppg)

(Avg ppg; away wins = 63 ppg)

In general, Lee Co lost if they scored under 60 pts. Sometimes they just couldn't get a shot to fall on the road. But in the Owsley game the Owls just outplayed the Bobcats. Owsley played a very aggressive zone defense and Lee had several turnovers. Lee also missed quite a few free throws.

I really think that Lee went into this game thinking that they couldn't lose after beating Owsley by 39 pts and 33 pts earlier in the season. This game was identical to Lee's away loss to Wolfe Co earlier in the year. They beat Wolfe by 30 at home and lost by 1 at Wolfe.

When Lee played good, they sometimes played real good.

When they played bad, they sometimes played real bad.

Lee loses 7 seniors, 5 of which were starters.

Bottom line on this game is Owls advance in the Distric and will advance on automatically to Region. History repeats itself.
