March 13, 200719 yr The 11U/5th grade state tournament is posted. Any thoughts on the pools? What do you think about there not being a D1 or D2 state? Instead there is one tournament with the top four teams getting a D1 bid and a top 8 finish gets you a D2 bid. There were only 2 teams that were going to play D1 so they combined the tournaments. This will show who is truely the best AAU team in Kentucky. I feel sorry for the D2 teams that have to play the Central Kentucky Warriors. They once beat a team 84-2 in the state tournament 2 years ago. They are one of the best 11U AAU teams in the nation. Uncle Joe Don't be surprised if this doesn't happen in the 12U also. I am hearing only three teams have signed up for D1 this year. The Ville, Tarheels and Thunder.
March 13, 200719 yr Good luck in the Buckeye tourney. I have to say I am surprised the Trotters defeated the Storm in the Finals. They had a couple big kids and #4 was a very nice player at the 2guard but the STorm had the big kid who could wheel and deal in the paint. I will also say this, I know its not the KBA tourney and ages/grades werent checked very tightly but the kid from Lex Ice was much older than our boys and we had a parent from their team confirm it. He was 13 I believe and a 7th grader and he was a player. Luckily he fouled out in our game and we eeked out the 1pt victory. I look at the size of some of those other kids on the Trotters/Storm and I would love to see birth certs on those guys also. Not crying in my milk because our boys accomplished what we wanted this weekend, we got 5 good games in and made it to the Final Four not expecting to win the thing. The G-Town Thunder were very impressive and you all should be even better once you get your Big Center back who was out sick this weekend. qryche11 I hope you guys got what you wanted out of the tournament this weekend.I enjoyed watching the Rockets play this weekend. They are a scrappy bunch that just don't quit! It was good meeting you and I am sure we will see each other in a couple weeks. I know we have much to work on in the next few weeks. I was surprised also that the Trotters beat the Storm in the finals also. The Trotters played hard and very well all weekend. As far as the big kid for the Ice I believe it. From what I have seen from them before he gets out of control and fouls out most of the time. I like his aggressive style though. I think #5 the blonde guard is older also. I don't understand it and never will why kids want to play down and not up! It would only make them better. Good Luck to the Rockets in the 12U State. Uncle Joe if you are at the 12U state be sure to look us up and say Hi.

We don't look like much in warmups or when we walk out for the tip but they play hard and love the game.

I like it better with a combined tournament. This shows who is truely the best AAU team is in Kentucky. If I had it my way, they would all be combined this year. The only thing I wish the KBA would consider is having a 3rd place and 5th place game like they use to do. In a combined tournament we need to know who are the top 6 teams in the state instead of guessing. They stopped having these games last year when they dropped the price for the entry fee.

Its ashame the coach from the Louisville Storm doesnt see his team the same way. Why teams play down so they can dominate I will never know. Looks like a nice lineup of teams, many NKY teams. NKY Rockets are entered but not on the list. They are scrimmaging NKY Flash on Thursday this week as a warmup. Hopefully more teams enter, I don't see Somerset this year, last year's D2 champ. What gives?

March 14, 200719 yr The C. Ky Warriors are not on there either. The teams are still sending their forms I assume. There are 19 teams D2 and 4 teams D1. I like how the KBA is keeping us posted on who has entered the tournament.

Only 4 Div 1 teams, if your utimate goal is to get a bid to nationals probably better to enter that tournament.

March 15, 200719 yr Author I see where the 11U this weekend threw the D-1 teams into the D-2 tourney because of lack of teams entering the D-1 tournament. So I wonder who gets bids and for what.
March 15, 200719 yr Author I see 7 NKY teams have entered the D-2 12 U state tournament next weekend the 23rd-25th. This is a strong showing from this area, should be some great competition down the road when these boys get to High School I am curious where most of these teams players will go to school. CC-Kings- Campbell Co, Brossart ? NKY Flash- Conner? Boone Co? NKY Raiders- Ryle, Boone Co? NKY Nets- Boone Co, Ryle? NKY Pacers- CovCath ? Holy Cross? NKY Rockets- 7 going to Highlands, 3 going to NCC NKY Firehawks- Conner,Boone ?
March 15, 200719 yr Kings, pacers and Nets. I've played very good teams. Should make strong showing in tournament. With Somerset, and Trotters D2 will be an exciting tournament. D1 has short field but N. KY Tar hills and The Ville games, will be shoot outs. You can't over look the G town Thunder. Should be a great 12 U state tournament.
March 15, 200719 yr 4 more teams added to the 12U D2 list for a total of 24. And the Trotters and C. Ky Warriors are still not on there. There could be close to 30 teams when the brackets come out. That would be a great turnout for state.
