February 25, 200719 yr Useless stat IMO. Tubby should have a big edge against every team in the SEC. Otherwise why would UK have hired Tubby from UGA since he went o-fer against UK? I wish someone would humor me and give me this useless stat.

February 25, 200719 yr Pitino did not recommend that Billy be the coach. He felt that Billy needed more experience before he took on the UK job. I have NEVER seen where Rick lobbied for Billy in any way at the early juncture of his coaching career as being prepared for the madness that is UK hoops.

Billy D no matter if people want to believe it or not, is one of the better coaches in America today....
February 25, 200719 yr Before Donovan won it all last year and before he finally won the sec (only the tourney in 05) all anyone did was say he couldn't win the big one. What about the Job Tubby has done. Since he got to UK he has won or shared the SEC regular championship almost every year. Not even Adolf Rupp won it every year. The coach has one subpar year last year and he's tomorrow's garbage? Give me a break. He can recruit obviously. This years Juniors were the #1 recuit class for 05. A coach can only coach he can't box out, make shots, free throws, rebound or make his players play any harder than they want to. All he can do is put them in position to make plays. Go TUBBY You made some good points, that I have been saying for awhile. I really like the comment where you say he has one subpar year last year and then people think he is garbage. That was very well said, and I been saying that for awhile now...However when it comes to recruiting, recently you are wrong. He had brought in some good classes through his years, but he has TWO TERRIBLE classes on this years team, and that should never happen when you are at one of the best schools in the country. Yeah he got the top junior class, but he also surronded them with pretty much nobody in the senior and sophomore classes. The best teams usually always have top classes, and if anything not two bad classes on the same team...Also for the shooting a coach does have a hand in boxing out, making shots, free throws, etc. He is the person who recruited these players, and if they cant do those things they shouldn't be here. Also in practice you go over all those things, so yeah a coach can be held somewhat responsible for that...However he cant be responsible for players having guts to them and not getting scared during big games. Because during most of these big games you see are best players aka Crawford disapper....Also keep in mind before you say anything back, that I have been one of the biggest Tubby supporters on here, so you might not want to call me a Tubby basher, but I was just stating facts here....

February 25, 200719 yr I wish someone would humor me and give me this useless stat. OTS is 12-9 versus Donovan. Florida is on a 5 game win streak over UK , which comes off the heels of UK winning 8 straight versus Florida. In that 8 game win streak over Florida, OTS beat Florida when the Gators were ranked # 1, 3, 5, 8, and 21.
February 25, 200719 yr I don't think Kentucky would be any better will Billy at that stage of his coaching career. Now he could bring UK to the top, before I think he would be around the same as Tubbs.
