If you dont think Bell is at least good you sir have very high standards. The rest of the 13th below South must be way bad. That said it would be hard for most any team to stay close to Scott Co. in their own tournment. IMO South is a much better team than Bell but this could be a game who knows?

I see where you are coming from and I agree, but middle of the road or not they are in the 13th not the 11th or whatever, IMO for the 13th Bell is a good team.

I understand where Jim is coming from. South has won the past four meetings by an average score of 25 points. I believe it will be a close game.

I think South will win the game convincingly.

Scott won by 26 against Bell, and basically got every call. I am a Scott Co. and Bell Co. fan, so I was able to look at the game pretty objectively, and the calls definitely went the way of Scott Co. I dont think it was a bad game at all for Bell, especially being recently removed from Brent Slusher.

With the mediocre at schools outside of the 12-16, you are probably right Jim, and the same can be said for so many schools in those regions. That part of the state is just not busting out the talent like the rest of the state. SL will not win by as many as they want, it could very well be a close game.

I always enjoy reading your post. You seem very well imformed. I did not attend the Bell Co- Scott Co game at the Toyota Classic. When you said Scott Co basically got every call it got me curiosity up. I checked the stats on the internet and it says Bell Co shot 24 free throws and Scott Co shot 14. I know that free throw count is not the whole story but it seems a little odd that a team gets every call and the other team shoots 10 more free throws. According to the stats the game was probably decided on the boards. Bell County had 36 total rebounds and Scott County had 54.

South's size give most people trouble but I believe that Bell's athleticsm will offset some of that advantage. Ty and Jordan are not overly quick. If Bell can be patient and not let South's press control the game it will be close. If you turn it over against South they will score a ton. They can score a bunch in a hurry. Hammonds will knock down 3 or 4 3's in a heartbeat if you are not careful much as he did against Corbin in the district last year. South is the better team but this could be a war if the Whitakers can control the pace.

This year's schedule is better than most years, so maybe I'll be proven wrong. Maybe they're taking confidence from the fact that they "held" Scott Co. to a 26-pt win in the Toyota Classic.

 

But in all seriousness: The matchups are terrible for Bell. South's too big, and they're really starting to click in the halfcourt game with Smith and St. John.

 

I would think that Bell did gain some confidence at the Toyota Classic, seeing that they did beat Simon Kenton and Dixie Heights.

 

South may be bigger, but not by that much as far as height is concerned, Bell starters go 6'5", 6'5", 6'3", 6'2" & 6'.

I'm gonna say Bell will give South a scare on Log Mountain,but South will pull it out.They better come to play though.I'll say South +5.

Obviously me saying every call is an exaggeration, but SC got the better end of the refereeing that game. I didnt know the foul shot numbers or anything, but I can remember sitting there thinking that it just didnt make sense that every call that was questionable seemed to go to SC. That is more what I mean when talking about getting all the calls. A block/charge, guy on the baseline, and also no calls. If that was the rebounding difference, I would say that 6-8 of those boards could have reasonable had a foul called on SC. I'm not saying Bell ever had a chance in the game, I'm just saying that besides being completely outmatched, they got no favors from the referees either.
