They weren't compared to Sayre's team, strength of schedule was compared, which MANY make a strong emphasis on. I said Sayre didn't play a strong strength of schedule the year they won state.

I would say that there's more than two legitimate threats, but that's my opinion. I think the two you're likely referring to are better than the others, but I would say they have more than two threats. Micah Foster can also pass the football. They haven't attempted a lot of passes, but he's shown he can throw it pretty well on some plays throughout the season so far.

This happens every year. NewCath plays superior teams early, loses, everyone thinks they stink, then they win the district and make a playoff run. NewCath has not lost a district game in a really long time. Could this year be different? Sure, but I will believe it when I see it. It will come down to the NewCath program's culture and how they respond to the losing these early season games. This is not new to NewCath

As for Dayton, with their schedule, they definitely have a chance to be 10-0 or 9-1. I hope they can compete for a district title and make a playoff run as well. The district needs to be more competitive. Both Sayre and KCD for years have played extremely weak schedules and both were able to win championships. Scott County did the same thing for years when building their program. The West side of the state looks open for anyone to take. The 4 best teams in 1A Kentucky are on the East.

I thought that this was posted kind of early. It definitely generated some good conversation. With saying that, I believe Dayton can run the table on their regular season. If they play everyone else the way played as a team overall tonight, mostly against Ludlow, and a couple other games, I believe they can do it. I hope I'm not jinxing them, but they are very capable. This is Dayton's best football team since 1996 and it may be equal.

I think they take the district this year. I don't see anything from NewCath that lends me to believe that Dayton beating them is silly talk. 10-0 is a real possibility, which would be such an incredible story. I didn't think I'd ever hear people talk about a Dayton back in the same breath of Skirv, but this kid's legit m as he has clearly shown.

Based on how several seasons have been for Dayton since Skirvin's time, it's hard to disagree with you. One running back that was good was Jordan Marksberry. He might have been a little faster than Skirvin but he didn't have his power. I believe that Kennedy has more speed and his power may not be quite even with what Skirvin's was, but he has some for sure. He does have another season to play after this one too and could get to it. Kennedy is nearly 200 pounds now and may put some more weight and size on.

What a magical season so far from the Green Devils! When it comes down to it, I still think they will lose to Newport and NCC due to their lack of schedule. Would love to be proven wrong!

You all may or may or may not be right in regards to how Dayton does against Newport and NCC. As you all are right that past is not on Dayton's side. With that said, and I mentioned this before. All those years where NCC has had tough starts to playing tough schedules, and then righting the ship come district play. In all those years NCC still had the most talented team when they walked on the field against another district opponent. I really don't think that is the case this year when Dayton plays Newport and NCC. As Dayton may be the team with the more talent when those teams step on the field, and which is the big difference from past history. With that said now they have to go out and get it done.
