Scott County at LexCath

Featured Replies

Obviously you and others haven't kept up with the game in the recent years. For some reason Scott county loses to Catholic in their gym and wins by 20 at home. I remember 2 years ago when at the end of the game they called a walk on Matt Walls when he was still dribbling to end the game when he had a clear way to the basket. I'm sorry most don't likes Scott County because they are good but I think it's hard to argue that SC get all the calls at home when they will gladly go beat all the teams in the 11th region on the road. They lost to Central last year because of a coaching error but other than that they walked through the 11th. Scott County will be number one no matter what region they are in. And just to let all of you Anti- Scott County fans know the Cardinals are for real and you will be seeing them on top for years to come.

I don't think it is Scott Counter per se that people don't like....it is arrogance. So as you say you lose on the road and win by 20 at home and imply the referees on the road were tainted. What I have seen from Scott County is that they expect EVERY call to go their way. If it doesn't then the refereeing is bad. So what good is it if you beat Lex. Cath. again and lose to Madison Central again?

I will get back to the thread.

Lex. Cath. in my heart can win. My objective pick would be Scott County. They defend too well. They can collapse the middle and still pressure the ball. Not too many teams like that. If SC runs hot offensively could be double figures. If they are lukewarm to cold, the game could be close.

I never understand the anger against Scott County. Everyone understands that with two high schools our chance are diminished. As fans we are just trying to enjoy the team we have now instead of the one we will have 10 years from now. What do you have against Scott Co.?
Didn't say anything negative about Scott Co. Re-read my post. Just pointing out some facts to catzrule. Things that I have learned through experience.

This is one of the best rivilaries in the state year in and year out in boys basketball, girls basketball and football. It always seems to be an exciting game in all sports.

I think we expect calls just as much as other fans. Aggorant of me maybe be but I think rightfully so. If you go to any gym anytime anywhere fans and teams are going to be unhappy with officiating if it doesn't go that way. I think people in Scott County just care as much about their team as any fans because it is a smaller community and for the majority everyone knows the players. BUT I still stand by what I said about there being obvious calls that have cost Scott county the game at Catholic..... I say cards by 13

It will be interesting to see Salsman's game plan in this one. Will they get up in the 2-2-1 press that was so successful against Clark Co. (in the 4th quarter) or will they drop back and play a match up 2-3 zone like they did against Tates Creek? Will they see how Huntington played triangle and two with some success - and try that hoping Portwood has an off night?

SC will trap and play tough man - as always.

The cards will win now March anytime they play LC this year LC cant stay in the same Gym with Scott Co this year the walls is against them

This Scott Co fan sees it a bit differently than Basketballwizz

LC/SC is ALWAYS a competitive game. It makes no difference who is ranked higher - who has the most high profile players - who has the best record... this game will be a war. It was a war when LC had David Graves. It was a war when Scott Co had Jones/Hundley/Hamilton. It was a war when LC had Green/Morton/there was another high profile player but I can't think of his name...

Walls and company better bring their A games (and play together) if they want to avoid consecutive L's.

Scott County beat Huntington in Memorial Collisium by 4 and LexCath lost to Huntington in Memorial by 33, so, its obvious the Knights stand no chance in losing by 37.

Who has had success pressing Scott Co. this year? Not many from the games I have been to and heard about. LC would be better served I believe by staying out of the press and having Scott Co.'s bigger lineup with good passers throwing over the press and getting baskets.

Hard to go zone against them too, but I dont know how much zone/man they play at LC. I have yet to see them this year. No way they run a gimmick D like Huntington.

Lex Cath has played a lot of full court, 3/4 court, and 1/2 court zone throughout the years. For the most part, teams that play the same style as Scott Co have given SC the most trouble throughout the years. Conventional wisdom would say slow the game down against SC. This strategy seldom works.

I think that this will be a closer game than some think. scott co. is goin 2 catholic which means scott is starting 10 points down. but scott co. will still come out on top.

Scott County has won by larger margins at their gym but I give credit to their fans ability to contest every call which doesn't go their way. It kind of wears on me over the course of a game so I imagine it might the officials also. SC will probably have an equal number or more fans on Saturday so it will seem more like a neutral site. The Cards are the best team in the state along with Ballard but they play a very intense style and foul a lot so I don't see why some of their fans think they get the short end of the stick from the officials. Coach Hicks does as good a job as any in trying to get officials to call it both ways (his way). I guess the only hope Catholic has is if we get the officials to help us. Thanks for the heads up.

Fans thank that at every single basketball game you can got to anywhere. Why just call out SC fans? Fans always think that refs are "cheating", or blowing the game. It's not just a SC thing. I promise you.
