Cats win 74-71!

Good guys win!

Two big FT's to win for the Cats after a huge offensive by Dioubate! The Cats get a much needed win to improve to 17-7 on the season and 8-3 in the SEC. Next up after a much needed week of rest is Florida at Florida next Saturday.

Another vital win.  With those games against Florida still ahead, gotta win your home games, gotta beat the teams you should.  Not that Tennessee is a "should", but at home and having beaten them on the road, they needed to.

Kentucky quietly is putting together a pretty good resume. I believe this win puts them at like 5-6 or 6-6 in quad 1 games. Always nice to sweep them season series against UT! 

In two games this season vs. the Vols the Cats were outscored in the first half 89-64 but in the second half of both games they came back to outscore the Vols 90-60! That is two impressive 2nd halves of basketball!

 

 

Let’s go!!! Great win! Even though it was another game getting down double digits in the first half. This one I didn’t feel like was because of lack of effort or anything. The defense wasn’t great in the first half, as they gave Tennessee to many was uncontested shots. However, in the second half they tightened it up and was making every shot tough on Tennessee. I also loved the adjustment Pope made and how he started throwing double teams at Ament early in the second half. 
 

The first half of games is getting better. However, if they can find away to completely stop digging themselves hole, this team could possibly be a tough out at least in the big dance. It’s been fun to watch how they have improved overall these last few weeks, credit to Pope for that. 

The first half to me was Tennessee was just making shots.  I don't think it was that Kentucky wasn't defending, Tennessee was just finding the open man and knocking shots down.  There was a stretch that felt like Kentucky would hit a two and Tennessee would hit a three on every possession.  It evened out in the second half.

With all of the SEC games for the day concluded the Cats are now all alone currently in 2nd place in the league at 8-3 a half game behind the Gators who I feel right now is playing as well as anyone in the country.

Agreed. After that 0-2 start in league play, I don't think anyone thought they would be 8-3 right now.

As much as it sucked losing Quantance, Lowe and Williams, I think it helped define rolls for guys and helped the team build some continuity.

No doubt as those injuries forced Pope to shorten his rotation. Which in turn helped Pope out, as at times I think he tries to be to nice and keep everyone happy and play everyone. When it really hurt getting guys in a rhythm and figuring out their roles. So those injuries forced Pope’s hand and shortened his bench for him, which needed to happen with or without the injuries. 

I went out tonight and watched in a bar, everyone loved the finish.

Moreno has to have more minutes, Garrison played one good game and Pope thinks he has to play him!! Not the answer for Ky!! Great win but the rotation of players must slow down!! Time to settle on seven guys and let them roll!
