7th Region: Week 1

Featured Replies

? Headlines ?

? | Top ranked St. X hit the ground running, offensively. The Tigers averaged 97 points per in their two opening week romps. Josh Lindsay scored 26 against Moore in the season opener, while contributing four of X’s fourteen threes.

? | Ballard got roughed up by 8th Region contender North Oldham, 75-54, without the services of Cole Edelen and Boogie Cook. The shooting splits (36/24/69) weren't pretty. The Bruins were staring at 0-2 a few nights later against Manual before rallying from a fourteen point deficit to beat the Crimsons. Ballard shot 64% in the second half and were led by freshman Qyntin Woods with 25 points and seven threes.

? ☘️ | Sophomore star Jordan Mitchell scored 25 to lead Male past Trinity, 69-55. This makes four straight wins in the series for H. The Rocks bounced back with a seventeen point win over Henry Clay in the Mr. Basketball Classic. Coach Haworth likes the way his Dawgs defend, touting “There’s no holes in our defense. Every team we play against, they’re going to have to take contested, challenged shots.” - quote from the Courier-Journal

? | Damian Jung burst onto the 7th Region scene with a monster night for Eastern against South Oldham. The 6’10” Northeastern commit hung 33 points and 15 boards on the Dragons. He followed that up with 27 & 12 in a win over Pulaski County.

〰️ | Atherton posted the only 3-0 record in the region, bolstered by the inclusion of football stars Garyon Hobbs and QuilShaun Baines.

?? | Really solid opening week for Seneca, who took a good Butler team to the wire and pulled a mild upset of CAL by sinking a pair of clutch FTs in the final seconds.

? ? | Central and Brown highlight the week's lowlights, going a combined 0-6. The Yellow Jackets struggled on the defensive end, allowing 80+ points in all three losses. The Bears were plagued by poor shooting, with a week-long split of 33/22/58.

When are Cole and Boogie gonna starting suiting up for Ballard?

Was able to get to the Trinity at Male game Friday night. Very impressed with the speed and length of Male. Coach Haworth has a team this year that is young in many regards but has real potential to make a splash. Mitchell was the best player on the court with Hillerich a close second.

Trinity still working out kinks with a lot of new faces and less experience at the varsity level. Gilvin and Horneck have looked good. Sophomore Jaiden Bartlett and junior Griffin Weis are two names many didn't probably know but need to concerning the Rocks.

Wouldn't be surprised if Boogie Cook suits back up for CAL this season

Say what????!!!

⚔️ ☘️ Moeller (OH) at Trinity on Saturday has my attention.

Unconfirmed but hearing Boogie has enrolled back at CAL as of today. Huge blow for the Bruins if true.

Maybe he was tired of sitting out waiting on eligibility so went back where he can play right away.

High school basketball is just funny.

St. X moved up to #34 in the Nation in MaxPreps rankings.

Wonder if this was tied to the King of the Bluegrass announcement that CAL is now “kind of” in the field?
