The Bengals limp into Bye on the heels of a pair of head-scratching losses.  A potent offense isn’t quite enough to offset the squad’s historically inept defense, and the win against Pittsburgh seems a lifetime away.

On the other side of the coin, Bye seems to stay in every game, but just hasn’t played enough complementary football to scratch out a win.

Papa’s pressing posers:

A. How many yards will Flingin’ Flacco put up against a stingy Bye side?  470 wasn’t quite enough against the Bears and their Swiss cheese impersonation.

2.  Similarly, does Bye run roughshod against the Cincinnati defense like the Bears’ stable of third string pigskin carriers?

D. Does anyone care?

If the Bengals trade any players before the deadline, you could say "Good Bye" to them.

I'm taking the over in this one. No defense by either side. Might come down to the last two minutes.

Agree...last team to score wins.

The only way the Bengals win against the Bye week, is if they trade Trey and others.

As we get closer to game day/time (assuming this will not be a prime time game), I'm sensing that there will not be a large crowd for this one. Pulling for the Bengals, as always, but Bye seems postured to take advantage of the opportunity for their first win of the year. An OT tie is not out of the question.

I saw a "report" that all the Bengals were offered is a 4th round pick.

I saw that too, and if that is true. Then I think the Bengals made the right decision. As they can let him finish out the year here in case something crazy happen and they go on a run. Or they can franchise tag him, or let him walk and most likely get a 3rd round comp pick in return. So in this case I think the Bengals made the right call, if teams were only offering a 4th.

Well, I think the Bengals would have received more if they would have traded him before the season.  Now that he is hurt (and getting old by NFL standards) his stock has dropped so I think the Bengals made the wrong call early and here we are.  Old, expensive, and hurt.

Agreed! He should have been traded before the draft. Then could have used some of the money they were saving to give him a pay raise for this season, on someone else.
