Usually these topics go much better when you give your answers to the questions you are asking.

On weakest among teams that matter, I will go with Atherton off the top of my head.  On the toughest, again off the top of my head I will go with Bowling Green.  Deceptive? Maybe Woodford County with all the out of state games.

Thank you for the welcome.  I am a long time lurker, but have been really picking up interest.

I agree weak Atherton, tough BG for sure Deceptive I think Owensboro could be hard to judge.

Should also say I am curious with Madisonville also, they look to be strong or their schedule is weak.

According to RPI Bowling Green and Apollo.

Bowling Green has the toughest and I don’t think it’s close this year. I would say Atherton is weak. And deceptive is Woodford Co. I say that because Harvest Prep(OH) appears to be down this year from what they have been the last 4-5 years. And so does Ballard. If either of those teams had been as strong as the last 4-5 years I think a case could be made for Woodford Co. having the toughest schedule.

Start with a mid level 6A team, an Ohio top 25 team, Beechwood, CovCath, Cooper, Ryle more than half of Dixie's schedule is pretty rough. Believe me, it's a gauntlet. Then the sister district having Scott County and Woodford.... brutal.

Cooper has played one of the top teams in all of Ohio in Anderson, Ohio. Then also Highlands, Ryle, and Manuel. Bowling Green for sure has played a very tough schedule, but the schedule Cooper has played especially non district games definitely is right up there.

You are absolutely right. That’s a heck of a schedule. My mind went to ranked 5A teams.

In what regards? Are you saying they’re better or worse than they schedule/record indicates?

Calpreps has it like this. SOS beside the team, although I don't know the exact formula for calculation:

  1. Cooper (22.4)
  2. Bowling Green (20.1)
  3. Pulaski County (17.9)
  4. Owensboro (15.3)
  5. Graves County (14.7)
  6. Conner (10.1)
  7. Woodford County (8.7)
  8. Apollo (6.0)
  9. Scott County (5.4)
  10. Dixie Heights (5.3)

This would be a more interesting argument if any of the 5A teams had beaten any of the teams that made their schedule so tough.

Essentially, between all of those top 10 teams, you have Cooper's win against Ryle and Scott Co.'s win against BG. The rest, and I mean, all of the rest, 5A has not beaten the quality teams on their schedules.

I'm not sure the formula either, and I know I'm a Calpreps homer and will shout that from the roof tops...but, it's deserved. How they do what they do and get it right (even their game prediction accuracy 80-90+%, even into the playoffs and what's even more uncanny is their prediction of scores).

You know this, so preaching to the choir here, but why more people don't dive deep into CalPreps to see the "Real Story" is on a team(s) is beyond me. It'll tell you alllllll of the rhyme and reason(s).

Honest question here.....what's your definition of "Quality"?
