In what regards? Are you saying they’re better or worse than they schedule/record indicates?

I believe their first two games were very deceptive.  So many get hung up on record.  Not toughness of schedule.

This would be a more interesting argument if any of the 5A teams had beaten any of the teams that made their schedule so tough.

Essentially, between all of those top 10 teams, you have Cooper's win against Ryle and Scott Co.'s win against BG. The rest, and I mean, all of the rest, 5A has not beaten the quality teams on their schedules.

Owensboro thoroughly dominated Owensboro Catholic. Madisonville beat Paducah. Most would say those are quality wins. Especially if Scott Co. gets credit for beating Bowling Green.

Calpreps has it like this. SOS beside the team, although I don't know the exact formula for calculation:

  1. Cooper (22.4)
  2. Bowling Green (20.1)
  3. Pulaski County (17.9)
  4. Owensboro (15.3)
  5. Graves County (14.7)
  6. Conner (10.1)
  7. Woodford County (8.7)
  8. Apollo (6.0)
  9. Scott County (5.4)
  10. Dixie Heights (5.3)

So according to this Scott County hasn’t really played anybody besides BG.

I can only assume you are low on the Blue Tornado? I agree with the Cooper take, but I’m not sure that Scott County win against that banged up Purples team would be deemed the second best victory for the class of 5A when MNH caught PT. Which they’re schedule as a whole isn’t tough by any means but one of the more impressive wins for the class as of today.

Madisonville is not in the CalPreps top 10 of schedule strength per this thread, which I was referring to. But to be honest, no, I am not that high on Tilghman and seriously doubt they'll be playing in the Finals this year. Nonetheless, that was an impressive win.

I did miss the Corbin win by Pulaski. That is a legit win over a Paducah Tilghman-like opponent.

I think Owensboro's win over O-Cath is a good win, but I think O-Cath caught some mythology with their win against a BG team that is far from who they are shaping up to be.

No, I don't think Scott Co. has a win against a quality top-tier opponent other than BG. The Collins win is a good one, but that's it.

Are there some wins against good teams by 5A, yes. Has anyone in 5A beaten anyone in 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, or 6A that is going to likely play in the Finals this year... no, I don't think they have.

I wouldn’t go as far as you are that the top 5A teams don’t have quality wins but I do agree with your overall sentiment. I think that’s what makes 5A so exciting this year that you have a lot of question marks going into the playoffs. Looks to be an exciting November in 5A.
