That MNH-OHS game in 2 weeks will be huge!!

Scott County needs to win out and surpass Pulaski so that potential matchup is in Gerogetown. Although, with the officiating recently here maybe it’s best we don’t get home field!

Still don’t understand how they beat PT. But every team has at least 1 off night. 
 

South Laurel will probably finish #1 in RPI with Owensboro #2 if they handle business at MNH. Scott County has a tough road ahead with Woodford & Highlands which will drop them a couple spots as I don’t think they can’t hang with Highlands this yr. Pulaski I’m not too sure of with tough games like Bell County and South Laurel… If O can stay home in the playoffs I like their chances of making it to state if they can avoid a healthy Purples squad along the way.

Exactly, I was sitting in my chair scratching my head thinking how in the heck did MNH beat Tilghman.   With that said, the Maroons did beat PT so any conversation about 5A has to include them. 

I can't see South Laurel beating Pulaski, I know anything is possible though.  South Laurel is much improved but the teams they are playing are less than impressive.  I think they will put up a better fight than they did last year.  Also South Laurel will have a tough matchup against North Laurel to end the season.  I think N.L. could be the team to sneak up the rankings, only loss so far is to Corbin.   

 

But I still think Pulaski will have a solid chance of winning out and being one of the top 2 teams.  Its a good time for the PC Maroons to have a week off and regroup after the last 2 weeks.

South Laurel has not played a great schedule. In comparison, Pulaski's opponents are 24-11 compared to South's opponents who are 15-19.

Scott County has owned Highlands under McKee. That game will be a slugfest if the Cards can get their defense healthy in time.

Y’all might get them again this year. But based on the season they’re having so far. I’d pick them to win over Scott County. With wins over Ryle, Freddy D and Cooper. Their resume is pretty impressive when compared to Scott Co.

I agree that PC should be favored. But expect it to be a competitive game with PC controlling the ground game early. I think the key will be if SL can keep its offense on the field enough early to wear down the legs of PC (and with Hines's style of offense, that isn't too far fetched). PC's numbers aren't great and has quite a few players going both ways and SL has the numbers and fewer players going both ways. If SL can keep it competitive through 3 quarters, think they have a legitimate chance to take the lead and win in the 4th quarter. 

Pulaski County has the same team from last year that ran the clock on everyone in their district with about the same amount of numbers. South's best player from last year went to Corbin. Unless something has drastically changed I expect a similar result.

FWIW, I'm still picking PC. But would disagree this is the same PC team as last year. PC lost 2 of its top 3 scorers/receivers from last year, its leading tackler and several "glue" players (I.e., not your stars like Hull, Brock, etc., but solid HS players that are critical for success).

Also, I think it is pretty clear something has changed with SL. Most programs take their biggest jump in year 2 of a new coach, and think that is evident here. They went from scrapping by bad teams last year (including a loss to a bad Russell Co. team) to running clocking bad teams this year. Is that enough to close the gap with PC? Objectively, very hard to say by comparing current resumes but not a huge leap to say that it could be a competitive game. 

I still believe there is a good chance we see Cooper vs. Bowling Green in the stats title game for the third year in a row. Which with how the RPI’s look, they probably wouldn’t see each other unless it is in the state title game.

Could this be the year that Cooper finally figures BG out and gets their first title?  It would be wild to see the two again, as Cooper has been to the State Championship 3 times in program history falling to BG in all three appearances.
