PT 3-0 / Madisonville 3-0

This game right here might be one of the more underrated games this week. It doesn't stand out obviously like the rivalry games and doesn't have maybe that "feel" to it that some others do, but this right here will have two pretty good football teams trying to hand the other their first loss of the season.

Through 3 games, Tilghman is averaging 55.66 a game on offense and they allow 23.66. For Madisonville, they are putting up 54.33 per game while only allowing 15.33 points per game. These 2 last met in the 2016 season. In the 11 games played since 1999, PT owns a 9-2 advantage.

While Tilghman has been balanced on offense through the first 2, they aired it out more against Mayfield and now average 374 yards a game through the air and about 153 on the ground per game.

Madisonville doesn't pretend to be balanced by any stretch, they are going to flat out run the ball down your throat, and even though you know it's coming, they do it anyway. They are led by Mr. Football candidate Markezz Hightower, who through the first 2 games was averaging 213.5 ypg and had 7 rushing touchdowns. He's not a alone, this team has a lot of talent. He's accompanied in the backfield by multiple sport star Rider Sandidge, who is also outstanding on defense. Madisonville averaged only 11 pass attempts through the first 2 games while running it 37.5 times a game. Madisonville does have a 6'3 230 pound very capable tight end in Jayden Travis who could cause some problems if they are forced to throw. He had a really good year last year in a run dominant offense.

PT's ultra fast WR Cam Wade had 237 receiving yards and 5 td's in the Mayfield game, but plenty of others, including Avery Thompson, who can take a game over at any time from the receiver position.

Contrasting styles here. Can the Maroons run the ball effectively and do what would make a big difference and keep Tilghman off the field for decent periods of time? Can Tilghman handle it by not being able to be in rhythm if so? Does it get Madisonville in trouble if they happen to get down some and their way back in is on the ground? All questions we will be looking to see answered Friday night.

Hightower is 5’10,” and weighs 185. The 4.5-second 40-yard dasher has a 35-inch vertical leap, bench presses 290 lbs., reps the HS rep weight (185-pounds) 15-times, and squats 450 lbs.

Hightower pulls 515 lbs., power cleans 230, and runs a fully automated 11-seconds flat in the 100-meters during track season. Track times are laser-timed. They are painstakingly accurate.

The above information shows you what type of player you are dealing with here. Those numbers, if you are familiar with what high schoolers generally produce, are out of this world good. This kid is a phenomenal athlete. The information was obtained from the Kentucky prep gridiron site.

Madisonville north Hopkins can make some noise in November. But this one is all Tilghman.

Paducah 42

Madisonville North-Hopkins 21

As a pure football fan this is a very underrated high school football game...Pf course we know ALL about Paducah Tilghman but the Hightower kid is the real deal...As I have always said there is speed and then there is speed..Of course PT has plenty of it, but the Hightower kid also has plenty...wish this game was at Paducah and I would definitely go but Madisonville is not that far away....purely from a football fan this is a very interesting game but what I have seen PT do againt Mayfield,  Graves and McCracken I'm picking PT...

Madisonville has a nice team this year and should make a solid run in the playoffs, but, this Tilghman team is at another level and I expect them to pull away in this one.. PT 48 Mvl 14

All the makings of a trap game for PT. Short week on the road after the Mayfield W, there could be a lull for a quarter or two.

Madisonville is plenty capable of winning this game IF they can control the clock & avoid turnovers & explosive plays by PT.

I’ll say PT-35 Madisonville 21.

Yep and I knew that and still typed out Friday. Creature of habit I guess. It actually works out better for me having it on Thursday.

Thursday is very do able for me as a pure football fan...awesome

Soph WR Avery Thompson’s first three games:

-122 yards, 2 TDs

-128 yards, 1 TD

-122 yards, 2 TDs

Pretty consistent!  What a nice target for Crowe to have

I'm confident this moved to Thursday like a lot of games in Region 2 because of the Referee Shortage

But also I think this will be a good challenge for Tilghman come district play and for RPI purposes .

Prediction

Tilghman 54

Madisonville 40

I could see Tilghman possibly coming into this one sleepwalking coming off an emotional high from the Mayfield game but even if they do I think they snap out of it at some point and definitely get the job done by a few scores.

I think Paducah wins the game, but I think a couple of you guys picked MNH to score way to few of points. The guy above said PT is giving up over 20 points a game and this will be the best team they’ve played so far( no offense Mayfield). I think it’s like 49-35.
