Danville has submitted the paperwork to be officially in class A next year from my sources.

The current classification is for 2025-26 isn't it?  I think they would have to wait until 2027 to move down.

And there were 20 2A teams smaller than Danville in the last reclassification cycle?  Has their enrollment dropped that much?

That's not how that works. You can't move classes mid-cycle.

In the realignment process that led to the 2025-26 classification, Danville was the 55th smallest football school in the state with an average boys enrollment of 267.0 (which is the method for classification; data is linked below). Twenty schools in Class 2A, including Belfry, Lexington Christian, and Owensboro Catholic all had smaller average boys enrollment than did Danville. Now will those numbers change in the coming years? Perhaps, but I would be shocked if Danville is in Class 1A in two years; if anything, I'd say Stonebraker's success is likely to increase enrollment with students who might have been on the fence about transferring to Boyle.

Give it a couple years but Danville will win a State Title under Stoney.

Stoney has them excited and winning, but 2 years would be incredible.

I think year 3 they will have a legit shot. This freshman class is very very good and the RB is probably the best player in that class in the state.

If Jayvean Meaux keeps scoring at the rate he is, he could threaten Kelvin Turner's touchdown mark by the end of his career.

Their skill will be top notch. Having a line to contend with the Beechwood, LCA, Mayfield, and Belfry type teams will be the difference imo.
