Not sure if the East Ridge game will be the first game played at Belfry in the Pike County Bowl or the first game played at Pikeville.

Going take me a while to get used to this district. Good to see Southwestern on the schedule and it looks like Johnny Hines (South Laurel) will be back at the Briar Patch for the first time in a while.

Somerset won out on this district alignment.  Green and Metcalfe have had good teams recently, but both were down this past season.  Hazard, SW and Paris should all be solid games I would think.

Will miss having Somerset on the schedule for football.  Seems weird that game isn't happening this year for the first time in ages.

Since renewing the series in 1985, Somerset and Danville have played 41 times (some of those meetings came in the playoffs). There were a few years they didn't play in the mid-1990s and most recently they didn't play in 2007-08. Certainly will be odd to not play each other.

I believe Monroe has one more year of being competitive and has several players returning. That district game may be a decent matchup and probable district deciding game. I would have to lean towards Somerset being the favorite. Even making another deep playoff run.

How is Somerset looking at the QB spot?  Bruner graduates, and I wasn't sure who the backup QB was last year.  I know there is a very talented 8th grade class coming in.

I was corrected on this one. Looks the East Ridge game will actually be played at South Laurel in a bowl, and then the Briar Jumpers will be switching to play South Laurel in the same bowl next year.

I believe the starting quarterback on the 8th grade team last season was actually a 7th grader.  Rising sophomore Jacob Estep was the backup last season.  It would not surprise me, however, to see Kris Hughes move from running back to quarterback.

Hearing QB is still very much a comp. between Estep and transfer Shannon Lofton.  Lofton will bring an explosive athlete to the Jumpers.

Looking forward to the changes this year. Some fun games on the schedule, I would say SL, Southwestern, Hazard are the biggest challenges. Word from Paris brass indicated their roster lost a lot and lost their head coach to in-county Bourbon. Still looking forward to that trip and the Paris orange field.
