2025 South Warren Spartans

Featured Replies

They've played every year since 2019 other than when COVID shortened the season, and this will be their 10th meeting in the 15 seasons South Warren has played varsity football.  We're just two years removed from Logan County beating them.  It's not all that surprising to me that they put a gate game on their schedule, as Logan County travels well, particularly when that team is close.

I have to assume the only reason Hopkinsville is on the schedule is RPI purposes.

The spears and arrows of the Spartan army will soar over artificial turf for the first time. ?: South Warren's X account

  • I hope they also improve their away bleachers, but I think I already know the answer to that one!!!!! I'll settle for a better announcer.

Not out of the blue at all, I’d counter by saying regardless of who either of those teams play the gate will always be good. I only question the scheduling because the Spartans have became the 6A prod

I’d argue that is a bit of a reach @DragonFire, the win in 2022 was awesome for the program but not surprising for that season considering that was arguably their best team of all time and vice versa for the Spartans, but they also got the first ever meeting. However, the other 7 matchups have been a running clock for the other side, it’s just not a competitive game and if it wasn’t usually on Senior night I’m not really sure it would bring a crowd either.

I don’t see Greenwood on the schedule this year and the Cougars should’ve jumped ship also. I’d assume Coach Adler believed his QB Ridge Holman was going to be in the blue on Friday nights for this upcoming season but that won’t be the case and I doubt his presence would’ve changed the outcome. Great coach who brought a team from the bottom of the barrel to become at minimum serviceable but to think you can go head to head yearly with the Spartans at a school like Logan County is rather silly in my opinion.

Many coaches opt for two type of week 11 games. Games where you can play a top tier opponent and keep an edge, or an opponent that is still quality, but is coached well enough that they will not start fights or intentionally sabotage your postseason.  Coach Adler and Coach Smith always take care of each other in this regard. Memory serves that Taylor County played a fledgling Marion County team and several of their key players got into a fight and had to sit out of their playoff game. This is an administrative way to avoid that scenario.

They play Greenwood on September 5th, per that schedule.

Whether it’s a reach or not that it’s a gate game - I have no figures to back that other than knowing that each fan base does a great job showing up to their games - the fact remains they’ve played almost every year. It isn’t out of the blue for the game to be on there. I know even as Bowling Green ramped up their schedule there were times I heard of their frustration that no one nearby would play them. Sometimes these programs want to play some teams nearby. Sometimes it is to remind players within their proximity of where is the best place to be.

I only question the scheduling because the Spartans have became the 6A prodigy of Western KY overnight, not many have the opportunity to knock off the big guns in the north but with Brandon Smith at the helm he’ll always have those boys in the mix. It just doesn’t seem beneficial for them playing in the highest class of football in our State and having somebody like that on the schedule with our RPI format in the State playoffs.

I liked @AppalachianTactician point of view with the discipline aspect, especially in the era we live in today that makes the most sense.

Well I would be thinking Christian County will replace Hopkinsville in 2026 for South Warren to finish the cycle, Because Hopkinsville is only a 1 year deal due to Consolidation. The New School will take the Christian County Schedule.

I hope they also improve their away bleachers, but I think I already know the answer to that one!!!!!

Field looks great. Central Hardin will be seeing South Warren later this season as they have jumped up to 6A and District 2 with Daviess County, Meade County, Central Hardin.

The Spartans should this District.

1st with ease, but who is finishing 2nd? Daviess I feel would be the consensus pick for last place, Central Hardin made a nice run in the playoffs last year and Meade has lacked consistency, interesting district.

The loss of QB Cade Scott is huge and I am told they are struggling to identify a good replacement since practice has started. I think that Central Hardin has potential to finish 2nd in the District but must visit Meade County later in the year in what could be for that second place and at least 1 home game in the playoffs. New coaches at both Central Hardin and Meade County this season also bring a lot of unknown factors to this District.

Thank God.  Another year of listening to that announcer would have been pure torture.  Also, wonder if the state will pay attention to their clock operator, if it is the same person as last season, after the blatant attempt at cheating in the state semi finals last season.  If memory serves me correctly, the officials had to keep all of the time on the field due to the poor clock operating.
