I did see a video of LeBron limping around in the hallway after Game 5. Just like your favorite annuals in the garden, pops up right after elimination each year. 

Maybe Nico knew what he was doing all along?

In a near miracle, the Mavericks will select #1 in next month's NBA draft and select what most feel is a generational type of talent in Cooper Flagg. You can't make this up.

Who will LeBron hire to replace him?

The crazy part is Nico did A LOT of awesome moves prior to the Luka trade. The owner (who apparently is a piece of work) has practically taken no accountability. You don’t make that kind of move without owner direction and/or authorization.

That was my thought too. There's just no way Nico unilaterally moved Luka with nobody else knowing. And if that DID happen, then the Owner is still at fault. 

The pressure was too much on the owner with this, so the move to relieve Nico had to be done before they play the Lakers. I don’t think the ire will go away until Flagg blossoms. But the chances of him having a Luka type impact is incredibly slim.

Again, I can come to grips with parting ways, but the little value the Mavs got in return and neglecting to put Luka out there to the highest bidder is the travesty in it all. To relieve a GM after a slow start - absent some kind of scandal - is unprecedented.
