From Google:

Cronin said his team is "too soft to play hard enough" and that it shows up at crucial times. "So what the truth of it has been, it's really hard to coach people that are delusional," he said. "The hungry dog gets the bone. We got guys who think they're way better than they are.

Here are some of his other comments:

"I have to run on the court to get guys to play hard," Cronin said. "It's crazy, you know. And it's every day. I'm tired of it. It's every day. I have the most energy of anybody at practice every day. I'm upset with everybody in that locker room, my assistant coaches and my players."

"Right now, I'm frustrated with my players and my staff," he said. "And it's been this way all year with this team. They're good guys. The problem, I told them, I said, the toughest guy in the room can't be me every day. It can't. It can't. It's just, it can't. You can only do so much."

==================

Is this more widespread than just his guys/coaches?  And ouch all the way around.

He's not wrong.

Do you think it is an overarching indictment on kids/young adults today?

I think it's a symptom of youth in general, and more specifically an impact of NIL.

Keep in mind that these peoples school and homes are in imminent danger from one of the greatest natural disasters this country has ever seen.  That doesn't help ease the frustration and stress levels.

"Cronin said after he was ejected, he quickly went to check an app that gives alerts.

"My house is getting real close to being evacuated," he said. "When I got thrown out, I just immediately went to my phone.""

Didn’t want to see him lose his house.

TheDeuce said it nicely. I do think this could also be Coach Cronin's odd way to try to motivate. This happened in 2012 with Pat Knight at Lamar. After one of his games near the end of the season Coach Knight practically threw his team under the bus, calling that group of seniors the word group of kids he ever coached. The team would respond by winning their conference tournament and making it to the NCAA's. There are some differences in the way they did it as I don't think Coach Knight mentioned anything pertaining to his staff. It will be interesting to see the overall impact of this.

Cronin must realize he isn’t the only coach in college basketball that has delusional players, calling them out isn’t the answer, he may want to analyze his status as a college basketball coach because nothing is changing and probably will get worse.
