16thBBall Fan Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Week 16 complete about 2 hours ago. Week 17 starts in 36 hours with the same 4 teams that played on Saturday. The 1:00pm game has the Chiefs at the Steelers. The 4:30pm game has the Ravens at the Texans. These games are both only on streaming with Netflix now getting into the NFL. I hope they can handle the viewers better than they did the Tyson and Paul fight! 1
Jumper_Dad Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 I hope Netflix has fixed their live streaming issues for those watching these games. Of course the demand will be a fraction of the fight, so that should help. 1
16thBBall Fan Posted December 25, 2024 Author Posted December 25, 2024 In today's Christmas games in the first game the Chiefs went on the road and defeated the Steelers 29-10. The Chief's are now 15-1 haven't scored more than 29 points this season. That is an amazing stat. In the 2nd game it is 17-2 Ravens at the half. The score sounds like a blowout baseball game. lol
16thBBall Fan Posted December 25, 2024 Author Posted December 25, 2024 My goodness as much as it hurts me to say this the Ravens are looking really good. They start the 2nd half with an interception of Stroud and then Jackson runs it 48 yards for a touchdown that has the Ravens now leading the Texans 24-2. 1
theguru Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 The Ravens are abusing the Texans. I did like the kickoff from the 20 yard line after the safety. I think that is how it should be for all kickoffs. 2
16thBBall Fan Posted December 25, 2024 Author Posted December 25, 2024 Another Ravens touchdown to make it now 31-2 and Jackson is now 9/14 for 2 touchdowns and 1 rushing.
TheDeuce Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 Imagine thinking anyone but Lamar is the MVP. 2
16thBBall Fan Posted December 26, 2024 Author Posted December 26, 2024 Final was Ravens 31 Texans 2. Lamar Jackson for the game had a 143.9 passer rating and a almost perfect QBR at 99.8.

The irony is, this season he is playing at a much higher level than last, but the record isn’t as good. He’s down to +180, so he’s in striking distance. The award is such a “Johnny come lately” vibe check, and Allen finishes the year with multiple bad opponents and Lamar has the high profile showcases. It’s there for the taking. If you’re rooting for the Ravens, I’d be pulling for Allen so that Lamar can come into the playoffs with a chip on his shoulder pad.

I actually don't think not getting the MVP is a motivator for Lamar, especially not as much as winning in the playoffs is.
DragonFire Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 With the Chiefs winning, I’m very curious what they do with their starters next week. Every year there is some hand wringing about being off for too long. This is even more than usual, as if they rest starters next week, it means they wouldn’t really play again for 24-25 days, which seems like it would be crazy to risk that much downtime.

Reid’s typical protocol is to rest his players. I remember one year in Philly, they had things wrapped up with 2 weeks left in the regular season and McNabb, et al. sat for about a month. Logic would tell you at least have the starters work up a sweat, but with that offensive line (maybe one of the five worst in the NFL), it is not worth the risk. That’s why they went for it yesterday. Get it over with.

Without a doubt, but anytime an athlete can feel like they are slighted, I like it. Conversely you can argue for Allen losing it to Lamar could motivate his squad. Of course it’s the playoffs and all that should mean very little. 🙂 1
