Southwestern 59 Boyle County 50

Featured Replies

The Rebels led 39-32 at the end of 3 and end up giving up 27 in the fourth Q. Anyone get to watch this one?

Driver got a personal foul and a technical foul on same play.  Was his 5th.  Game changed after that.  Southwestern had all the momentum and Boyle didn’t recover.  Zach Hutchinson hit some big 3’s to spark the comeback as well.  SW grinded out a tough physical win.  I think both teams have a lot of room for improvement.

Southwest didn’t look nearly as good as I thought they would/should. They have upside for sure but thought they’d be farther along given everyone they returned.

Boyle’s really played some good defense and it seemed to have Southwestern stump.  But like 12th Regions Sports said, Drivers 5th foul changed the game.

I think the fact that it was a technical more so than anything. Southwest had recently been down 10 and had already cut it to 2. Then Driver fouled the player which would’ve resulted in a tie game anyway. Instead, the technical as well and the kid hit all 4 free throws and that put them up 2. That completed a 12-0 run by Southwest, so they already had big momentum before that.

The good news for Boyle is that they went on the road to play a team that is top 6-7 or so in the region this year, and had a real chance to win this game. Brown coming back will make a HUGE difference for them. So, like the last two years, I again think they have the personnel to beat anyone in the region. Probably can be a top 3 team if they live up to their potential.

Southwest has some nice players at the F/C spots but appear to be challenged in the backcourt. Their bigger kids matched up well with Boyle’s inside players but they struggled on the perimeter. We will see if they have the pieces to improve that over the course of the season

It looked to me to be less about Driver and more about poor shot selection and sketchy defense.  They let Dumphord drive 3/4 court for a layup and nobody made an effort to stop him.

Not to sound like I'm complaining too much but you'd think the Boyle County staff could get their jersey numbers listed on the roster at the Riherds scoreboard.  I'd like to know who the players are.  There are 15 players on the roster with no number listed.

3/21 from 3 point range is just brutal.  Add that to 9/19 from the line, and you have the recipe for a loss.

Usually, when you’re shooting that poorly you make an effort to go inside.

Will Demauriah Brown play this year? How long does an sprain ankle take to heal, its been almost a month.

I don’t disagree but I think Southwestern’s size limited their ability to do that.

Driver's foul trouble didn't help in that area.  According to the box score he only played 13 minutes.
