Kentucky 87 WKU 68

Featured Replies

Nothing to write home about. Kentucky struggled a bit shooting the ball, from every where really, including only 69% from the free throw line. I believe the Cats were shooting 91% from free throw going into tonight's game. Western Kentucky kept the game close throughout most of the second half before foul trouble and fatigue seemed to really be the difference down the stretch to end the game.

Western really attacked the UK defenders and did not even attempt to drive around them - rather they drove right at them.  This seemed to be somewhat successful.  Its good when a team does these things to you so you find out early what you really need to work on defensively.

Another very solid win for Pope and the Cats, loved the first possession with a couple screens and layup, nicely drawn up by Pope. We need to get back to the Maui tourney and pass on these early teams that really don’t test the offense or defense.

Poor shooting game, but played pretty well in other phases of the game.

Good to see them shoot so poorly and still nearly put up 90.

They didn’t shoot well, they were very sloppy at times, and they didn’t defend well early. They came out of the gate like a team that was starting to feel themselves a little too much with the early success. What’s most exciting about Coach Pope is that it didn’t have to be an overwhelming all night thing that resulted in a loss like it used to. They gathered themselves and there were clear adjustments in the 2nd half and early on in the rotations.

Pope said back during the summer that he's like to do that. I'd say Maui, Bahamas or Vegas will likely happen in the near future.

WKU was intense and physical. I like what I saw from them. Give them credit for making it tough on UK. WKU caused the UK struggles. WKU will be a tournament team no one will want as a first round opponent.

I really liked UK's defense in this game and how UK responded to WKU's physical game.

I second this.
