This is the untalked about aspect about Sayre that doesn’t get mentioned enough. The Spartan defense is very good.

The Pikeville game did more to validate that unit than everything that came before it combined. I feel like we can officially label Sayre‘s defense as legit. They're top tier in all three phases.

I thought that Campbellsville might of just had one slip up against KCD earlier on. They have seemed to be remaining, if not declining with turnovers and other discipline challenges. They definitely can’t do this against Sayre or the Spartans will have a field day in my opinion. This definitely has potential to be a good game, but I believe Sayre wins regardless. Good luck to both teams.

This should be a whale of a game no doubt. After watching Sayre play the game, give them the W. Good luck to both teams for a safe and injury free game.

A roll call for each team's best of the best:

Sayre Spartans ⚔️ (13-0, 1A #2)
Luke Pennington (QB) - 180/234 for 2,583 yards and 47 TDs with 3 INTs | 5 rushing TDs
Brock Coffman (ATH) - 87 receptions for 1,383 yards and 24 TDs | 3 KR TDs | 53 tackles | 5 INTs including a pick-six
Charlie Slabaugh (RB/LB) - 85 rushes for 715 yards and 10 TDs | 3 receiving TDs | Team high 80 tackles
Kemonte Braxton (WR/DB) - 7 receiving TDs | 4 INTs | 1 KR TD
Harrison Phillips (LB) - 78 tackles | 5 sacks | 1 INT
John Luke Minner (DE) - Team high 8 sacks

Campbellsville Eagles ? (11-2, 1A #5)
Kace Eastridge (QB) - 3,139 total yards (1,860 passing/1,279 rushing) and 36 TDs
Cross Watson (ATH) - 1,280 yards from scrimmage and 19 TDs | 1 KR TD | 46 tackles | 1 INT
Gabriel Noyola (WR/DB) - 42 receptions for 830 yards and 9 TDs | 2 INTs including a pick-six | 1 scoop and score
Cole Kessler (LB) - Team high 93 tackles | 1 INT | 3 fumbles forced or recovered
Shaiden Calhoun (LB) - 91 tackles | 14 TFL
Braylon Beard (DB) - 3 INTs including two pick-six's

Gonna be a very cold game for sure, but overall looks like no precipitation on Friday but will rain a little bit every day this week in Lexington so the field could be pretty sloppy.

Sayre 20-14.

What’s the weather actually call for Friday night for this one? How’s the field after this past Friday?

Supposed to be pretty cold, but no rain on Friday, but 60% and 80% the next two days, I know they have a grass field so it could be some sloppy conditions.

Only two of Sayre's opponents have managed more than one touchdown against the Spartans. They even held Pikeville to a single touchdown.

They had grand total of 6 touchdowns scored on them during the regular season. 5 regular season shutouts and 1 more shutout in the first round of the playoffs. And with 1 touchdown scored against them on a kickoff return, the Spartan defense has allowed 9 total touchdowns (2 rushing/7 passing) in all 13 games so far this year. That's an average of FIVE points allowed per game this year.

The Sayre defense shuts down the run. Only 2 of 10 total touchdowns have been scored on them on running plays. They've allowed 1566 rushing yards (37%) and 2683 passing yards (63%). Campbellsville's offense is 60% run (2885 yards) and 40% pass (1863 yards). Campbellsville either needs to show that their offensive line can bully their way into doing as they will on offense on Friday night, or else I think it's going to be a long drive home for the Eagles.

Bethlehem is their one shared opponent this season. And the two results against that shared opponent allude a bit to how close this game may end up being. Campbellsville beat Bethlehem 42-6 back on September 26th, and Sayre beat Bethlehem 44-6 five weeks later on November 1st.

They're top tier in all three phases. The offense can put up huge numbers, the confidence of that defense will be an all-time high this week, and kick to Coffman at your own risk.

That's why I think they win here and get it done the following week at Kroger Field, as well.

Weather could be the deciding factor in shutting down Sayre’s aerial game????  Field conditions plus frozen/rock hard ball????  We’re talking late November, playoff football.  Memories that will last a lifetime.  This is a great time of the year!  Go Spartans.

This game promises to be an exciting and closely contested matchup, ultimately coming down to which team can minimize mistakes. The weather may play a factor in Sayre’s passing game, but Campbellsville will need to capitalize on their opportunities and maintain control of the ball. While Kace Eastridge may not be the most polished quarterback, he is undoubtedly one of the fiercest competitors in the state, which will give Sayre a tough challenge. As I’ve mentioned before, Sayre's defense is underappreciated as most tout their explosive offense, but if they can hold a team like Pikeville to just six points, Campbellsville will certainly face a very stiff test.

Ultimately, while predictions are speculative, the numbers speak for themselves as both teams’ performances against a common opponent this season are strikingly similar. This game will undoubtedly be hard-fought, intense, and filled with high drama on both sides, and I’m eager to see how it unfolds.

Best of luck to both teams!

What’s the difference between this week and last week in the weather?

Lot's of rain today and tomorrow forecasted for Lexington, and kickoff will be below 30 degrees.
