Lexington Christian Academy 47 Mayfield 7

Wow! Not sure I’ve seen Mayfield fans meltdown this bad before.  If you looked at this game objectively it was clear it would be a up hill battle for the Cards. Same would be true against Beechwood and O Cath this year. This game could have been a little less  lopsided had the Cards not had a couple turnovers  early on but that wasn’t the case. As for going forward I think it’s clear that the future looks pretty darn good. Again, if you look at the future objectively, it’s pretty clear. We’re in a pretty good place going forward.

I want to thank Brad Morris, Jason Burkeen and Doug Sims (Red Helmet Sports guys) for the broadcast. I've had 2 knee replacements this year and it was great getting to watch the games. What a blessing

I haven’t commented on Mayfield hardly at all if any this year. I knew they were super young and didn’t expect hardly anything out of this season if anything. I know the old school Mayfield guys on he

I thought LCA’s offense was very crisp.
You have to give credit to LCA ‘s coaching staff for redesigning their offense from last year. Went from a drop back passer to a running throwing style. The different formations kept Mayfield from getting in the right defense all night long, I thought that was key point, a long with how their offensive line played.

The radio guys were saying LCA put another running clock on the Cards in the 2009 1A Finals.  That game was:

LCA 55 Mayfield 19

Was 36 points a running clock then? I know up until at least 2006 you had to be up by 45 before the running clock started.

You forgot Tilghman in 2003.

In 2003 you had to be up by 45 to get a running clock. Tilghman didn’t even score 45 points in that game.

They changed it from 45 to 36 points a few years ago. Now it’s 35. I liked it better at 45, it seems to get there sometimes a little quick.

Yeah no running clock that game. Even though Tilghman called the dogs off.

This is my concern with Mayfield,  they will never do this...put the best athlete at QB and change its offense for his strength or even change the offense around any position player that possess  that kinda of athleticism but instead will continue to run a 8 grade vanilla level offense that has no motion or shifting and throw screens all game long...you saw 2 totally difference offense philosophy last night. ONE blew your mind while the other put you to sleep...Its ok to change....

I agree. Back in 2010 or so Mayfield’s offense was ahead of 95% of Kentucky schools when we really started to spread it out and use the whole field, but we have never evolved one bit in the past 15 years. Mayfield has the athletes. Send guys in motion. Run plays out of uncommon sets. Put guys in different positions to make plays and confuse the defense.

They’ve tried in the past to do that stuff. Remember Brajon Dabney, he could run the ball but passed it like my mother. We just won a State Championship and we’ve been to the State Championship game about 11 times out of the last 14 years. I think they know what they are doing.

Very good win for LCA. Their lines are very good.
Very good season for Mayfield. Even though the Head Coaching change was to a known commodity it’s still a big change. I thought they did well even with not their best team out there.

Sometimes you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you. The bear don't get us to often but last night.....

That’s not the case with #2.  I’ve seen him throw the ball.  He throws better than the starter.  He’s amazing. There’s a reason they’re not playing him and it’s not ability related.  Iykyk

Mayfield’s JV runs a better offense than the varsity.  They have the tools.  They should use them.

And won how many?...Mayfield was just better than everyone but that's the problem....when you don't have the athletes and you try to run a vanilla offense you get what you got last night...no disrespect to Brajone but that QB was as fast, savy as they come that couldn't pass as most try to say...and they ran a offense....you ran a basic offense with Brajone...its OK to change...if we don't win last night we be at a decade not winning state....you can be runner up all you want....

You need to go back to singing “I got a tiger by the tail”.
