Do you think it's the coach or has the talent level dropped that significantly?

 

I'm not saying you were implying that he's the problem, just asknig the question.

I don't follow the program like I used to, so I can't offer an informed opinion. But I think it's a given that the talent runs in cycles. Did Willie come in on a down cycle or is he just not getting enough out of what he has? I can't answer that. Looks like the freshmen group is a talented bunch. Do you give him a couple more years or do you start looking to make a change?

I see where Simons was in double figures again and surprisingly Hurtt had 14 pts, only because he hasnt scored much. Eaton and STewart seem to be consistent contributors and Ball has cracked the scoring column in the past several games. I think they will have a strong Sr. Class next year with these juniors but who will be the Big guy down low? I don't see any big kids walking the hallways, let me re-phrase that I dont see any 6'5 basketball players walking the hallways. Maybe they will change their style and become a run and gun team next year with all the athleticism.

Rumors are flying that he (Roberts) may come back. I doubt it. Are they sitting Wise and Kruse from here on out because I thought they were getting minutes. Those two are what I consider true Centers in the post.

 

There shouldnt be a change in coaching nor will there IMO. Willie is a hometown guy who is a good coach and has a lot of respect throughout the community and region. At the end of the day he doesnt shoot, dribble or play defense just to reiterate all other points being made by most.

Wrong! Coaching is not overrated. Yes they do receive too much blame when their teams are struggling. Talent doesn't always prevail. Preperation is such a huge part of coaching and being successful. There are upsets at every level night in and night out. Coach Schlarman is a great coach and HHS is lucky to have him. You name any team anywhere that could afford to lose their 2 starting guards and top 2 scorers and wouldnt struggle just a little bit.

HHS is improving and will only get better when Mr. Simpson gets back.

Why did he leave in the first place? When he was here, was he a tuition student?

My guess is he would come back to be one of the best big men in the 9th region next year who could easily average a 20ppg/ 12Rb. With Simpson at scoring guard and him inside they would be very tough to stop. I have no clue about whether or not he sits out.

 

From what I understand the family lived in Ft. Thomas when he attended Highlands Middle school and moved when he transferred. I could be wrong.
