The Bryan Station defenders come into this one off of a bye sitting at 2-3 but winners of 2 straight. Their last win was 42-0 over Tates Creek where James Davis 5/6 through the air for a TD and Jaws Washington ran for 169 and 3 scores.

Henry Clay is also coming off of a bye but they sit at 0-5. They've been shut out three times this year, with their last being a 30-0 blanking by Mad South. Henry Clay is pretty balanced through the air and on the ground.

Does Bryan Station extend their win streak to three, or does Henry Clay get their first win on the year?

Bryan Station easy.  How has Henry Clay gotten so bad?

EJ Hayes middle school who is often ranked as the best middle school in Lexington used to pump alot of talent into Henry Clay, but once FD opened uup alot of those kids from started going to FD leaving Clay with not much talent to restock their programs with, which is why you can see that sports at Clay have been on a bit of a decline over the years, with football getting the worst of it. Below are some of the athletes off the top of my head that I know went to EJ Hayes and then chose FD over Clay.

Ty Bryant - UK

TJ Horton - Ball State

Devin Neal - Baylor/UofL

Terrion Hicks - Northwestern

Aevion Chenault - Western Michigan Commit

Kaden Clay - Southern Illinios Commit

Not being confrontational, just get tired of the Douglass gets all the perks talk...

You do not have completely factual information. The school that was hurt the most by FDHS opening was Bryan Station. Kids didn't choose FD, they went to the school that was their district, year one most Clay kids stayed at Clay. Station was decimated that first year or so, they made a good hire and rebuilt quickly.

IMO- Clay has continued to make excuses, they have over 2000 students and 8 years, there has been time and there are players in the building.

Ty Bryant - carter G Woodson _ lived in Bryan Station district

Horton - Douglass district

Neal - Douglass district, both younger brothers were Carter G

Chenault - Douglass district

Clay - Douglass district

Thomas Howard - Douglass district

Not sure about Hicks but assume Douglass district.

THIS! When someone actually knows the behind the scenes info, rather than rattling off 3rd party gossip from 2018.

However, regarding Clay, they should have diverted from coach Simpson's regime that had already fallen by the wayside PRIOR to Douglass.

I think there is a freshly available coach that was just in the state semi, that they should have contacted a few years ago.

Sorry I wasn't trying to make it seem it seem as if FD is getting some special treatment. As someone who started highschool the year Douglas opened up I know first hand that Station was the one who got hit the hardest especially in the first couple of years. Henry Clay was fine for the first 2 years. But once the class of 19 and 20 athletes graduated things have went downhill for the program. Obviously I'm not not saying that Douglas is poaching kids from Henry Clay mainly because the schools have to abide by districts. But you do have to admit they're have been some really good athletes who've gone through the broncos program who lived in what was previously Henry clay District. And yes it is hard to make excuses for a school that has 2000 students, there has to be some talent within that student body right?

Having seen first hand what happened when Dunbar opened up and many from Lafayette went to Dunbar and the Lafayette program began to fall by the wayside (I had a family member who was on the first two Dunbar teams after playing at Lafayette previously), I can say the same thing happened with FD. They capitalized on it and didn’t let football fall by the wayside like Dunbar did. Dunbar benefitted initially from being the new school (a la FD), but then competing interests came into play and administration did not have a plan in place to maintain the initial excitement and decent success.

it’s not so much FD getting more benefits or perks, but they have capitalized and maintained and grown their sports programs (generally speaking) and continued the excitement. This draws kids and parents. For Henry Clay, they’ve just basically not fought to minimize the honeymoon period FD enjoyed, and have let themselves stagnate.
