Tennessee is taking the first step.  10% "Talent Fee" added to tickets for next season.

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/I'd/41302985/tennessee-ups-season-ticket-prices-10-help-pay-athletes

"In 2025, the cheapest season ticket for home football games -- including taxes, the required contribution and talent fee -- will cost $453.75 in the family section, which is in the upper deck. Student ticket prices doubled this season from $10 per game to $20 and will increase to $25 in 2025."

At least they are kind of cutting the students a break...For now.

Yes, they absolutely will.

There's already a donation tied to my season tickets. With NIL, they now do "match" events where during a short period of time some person or business will match NIL contributions. They want you to round up at the concession stands to go to NIL funds. They want you to donate as an alumnus.

When will enough be enough? Tennessee reported a $75 million surplus in 2023. How does that equate to charging the fan more to attend a game?

This is similar to tipping, in my opinion. Businesses have added the option to tip on literally everything, every service. It's not our responsibility of consumers to pay the salaries of those employees, especially when businesses are turning huge profits. Same thing applies now in college athletics. Do I think the athletes should be paid? Sure, but now how they are currently being paid, and I don't think it's fans' responsibility to pay it.

For many businesses, record profits... every. single. fiscal year.

I assume CFB will head the same direction as the NFL and eventually move to various streaming platforms for big games.

Like Deuce mentioned, I think college athletes that generate big money should be paid solid money but this is out of control already, it is going to price us out of stadiums, and eventually price us out of TV options.

This is not what NIL was supposed to be. NIL was supposed to allow athletes to go to the local car dealership, shoot a commercial and get paid for it. That is obviously not what is going on now. It's not sustainable.

I am not refuting you but we all knew, and it is even on BGP, that the NIL would get out of control in short order.

As tech has progressed the one medium I almost never listen to is radio.

College football fans will continue to fill the stadiums, this is what they look forward to each and every year and prices for tickets and season tickets don’t seem to matter. And yes, NIL is out of control and will continue to spiral worse.

I don't even see how the NCAA will ever get a handle on NIL.  Courts have struck down any limitations.

I saw where Arkansas AD made a plea for 10,000 households in Arkansas (and further I assume) to pledge $100 a month to the college football collective. He said that would make them competitive with a school like Ole Miss that had 5 times as many donors in their collective.

As long as there are boosters will to buy players, this was always going to happen. If not straight cash payments, they'd just promise recruits they'd but $100,000 of there T-Shirts or promise to pay them $500,000 to be in one ad.

So even if was what it was supposed to be, as you said above, this was always going to happen.
