The Cardinals of Scott County host their rivals from Great Crossing in what was a decisive victory for them last year, 35 to 14. The Cardinals dominated on the ground last year, rushing for 421 yards, but Huguely and Fryman of course are no longer in that backfield. And after the opening game with Franklin County saw the offense sputter and stall drive after drive and Bud Collins exit early with injury, anything could be on the table.

Great Crossing is coming in with momentum after blowing out Madison Southern at home 56-7. Expect this to still be a game in the second half.

Kayne Garrett was the offensive bright spot for the Cardinal offense last week, rushing for 117 yards. Quarterback Andrew Hickey was held to 6 completions for a total of 58 yards.

The Cardinals will have to be all over Britton Persley, who caught three receptions for Great Crossing last week, amassing 155 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Luke Ballard had 156 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns to contribute to the blowout win.

There were questions from some about Scott County's lofty preseason ranking while others thought the Cardinals should have been higher. Losing to Franklin County in Week 1 is no sin, but I think most expected it to be closer. Great Crossing rolled Madison Southern, but I've heard Southern was dealing with some injuries. If Scott County is what many think they are, shouldn't they take care of Great Crossing with relative ease? And if they don't that might become a season long problem in Georgetown.

Scott County at full strength should handle Crossing, but there were a handful of starters out against Franklin County and Buddy Collins went down early in the game. Whether or not they all suit up might change the outcome by a couple of scores either way, but I'm still confident Scott County emerges victorious here.

Any specifics known about the injury to Collins?

I find myself curious about this game.

Scott County sounds awful banged up. It sounds like depth is an issue for the Cardinals. Are they so depleted that GC could really pull this off? I have a really hard time seeing it. I feel like an 0-2 start would really damage the confidence of a group that probably was expecting to start 2-0. Regardless, I hope they get healthy soon as I want to see the full picture for what Scott County has to offer.

Give me the Cardinals 28-20
