Bac2369 Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 Polar Bears are trending upward in seems the past couple seasons. Sayre has already made that jump it seems. This should be a good competitive game right? Who wins this 1A vs 2A matchup? 1
Mustang Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Brossart scrimmaged both of these teams an came out on the short end of the stick to both opponents. A hit of a contrast in styles here. Bracken County has a veteran team operating around Whitten the quarterback and Tarter the running back, who is the real deal. The Polar Bears made a statement Friday night, defeating Harrison County 42-0, which would have been unheard of a few years ago. They are capable of breaking big plays, Sayre is a well-oiled, professional, multi-faceted offense, featuring Brock Coffman, an All-Stater with a multitude of college offers in his pocket. While Sayre has an effective run game, it is mostly to set up their passing game. Being a scrimmage, we single covered Coffman, to no avail. Coach Chad Pennington's son Luke is a veteran quarterback, who is lightning quick getting rid of the ball, to runners or receivers. I'm thinking Sayre is too good for the Polar Bears, who are not nearly as quick or athletic as the Spartans. Look for Sayre to run the table until running into Raceland or Pikeville again this year in the playoffs. 1 1
Oldercoach Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Greatly suspect Mustang’s take is spot-on. I just don’t know if the Polar Bears are going to get enough pressure on Pennington to make a difference in this polished aerial onslaught. I do expect BC to get into the end zone multiple times. My guess is 35-21 Sayre. Should be a confidence builder for the BC program after coming off the mauling of Harrison Co.

gchs_uk9 Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 I think @Mustang an @Oldercoach both hit it on the head. Sayre is probably too good and too quick. A perfect situation from Bracken County would be controlling the clock, maximizing every offensive chance, and generating a couple of turnovers. However, that last part is really difficult when you aren't as quick and mix in Pennington who didn't throw a single interception last season. 1
brooksville Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 I think this game will have both teams in the 30s. I think Bracken’s passing defense won’t be enough.
